Captured (1998)
Very underrated fantastic movie.
I originally bought this movie from a second hand video shop for four dollars, only doing so because I saw that Andrew Divoff was in it. I never thought it would be as good as it was, but it was brilliant. It has a great script with great actors, and even though the plot is relatively simple, it manages to fill up an hour and half without getting boring. The ending was slightly disappointing, but besides that, it was a fantastic movie. Think Misery, except a highly stressed businessman instead of an insane woman, a car thief instead of an injured writer, a car instead of a bed, and garden shears instead of a sledgehammer. >:) I would love to see a sequel to this movie, not quite sure how they'd go about it, but it would be great to see. Andrew Divoff would have to be in it too. He's a fantastic actor, I just wish he was in more bigger movies. He definitely deserves to be.
Death Wish II (1982)
Fantastic movie
Why is it that all movies that I love, Leonard Maltin always seems to give them BOMB ratings? What is a critic anyway? Somebody with an opinion! We all have opinions about movies, so why should critic's opinions count more then the everyday person's? Personally, I loved this movie. It wasn't afraid of what the audience would think of it, it was shown exactly the way it wanted to be shown. Some scenes were quite graphic, especially the rape scenes, but the movie was honest and revealing. Charles Bronson was a great as ever, playing Paul Kersey perfectly again. The acting was great, the action even greater, and the script and direction marvelous. It was as good as a sequel can get. So why did Leonard Maltin give it a BOMB rating? Who knows. Me, and a lot of other people would give it full marks, and it deserves no less.
F/X2 (1991)
Huge improvement over the original
I first saw this movie years ago on TV and have loved it ever since. I saw the original a couple of months back, and I must say I was disappointed. FX2, however is thoroughly enjoyable, with great actors, exciting action sequences (especially the supermarket scene) brilliant special effects and includes several humorous scenes as well. If you saw the original, liked the concept but didn't enjoy the movie, check out FX2, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Right from the opening horror movie sequence, right to the battle at the end, FX2 is a fantastic movie that has put itself back on top after the disappointing original. 9/10
