Der schweigende Stern (1960)
Lovably Cheesy
I don't know if it was Technicolor, but this movie was in bright colors, literally very colorful. Interesting rocket design, rudimentary science, and multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-gender characters and crew. Otherwise typical of late 50's early 60's sci-fi. The acting wasn't bad bad, just kind of bad. There was even the hint of romance or at least a relationship connection. The special effects were what you would expect from the time - - - definitely not big budget but adequate enough to convey a true sense of curiosity and sci-fi, provided and given that there was the proper suspension of belief. All in all, lovably cheesy.

Knock-off
A knock-off of a truly original yet no less disturbing movie, THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE (2009). The previously mentioned Tom Six film had 3 people sewn together rather than 2, and at different areas of their bodies. The motive or reasoning for the disfiguration in this movie is beyond sanity but nevertheless different from THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE. The acting was fair but interesting. After having seen THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE, though, this just seemed like a knock-off.

Not Your Run-Of-Mill-Sci-Fi Story
Outstanding. Tremendous acting from all, particularly Mahershala Ali, Naomi Harris, Awkwafina, and Glenn Close. Convincing script and arresting story, especially for this sub-genre of sci-fi. Clear sci-fi elements, but effectively about so much more. One of the very rare thinking and feeling person's sci-fi movies. Highly recommend seeing it.

GREAT
Thank goodness for Netflix, Korean TV production, and the SQUID GAME. Thoughtful, captivating, engaging. Although the first 2/3 of the first episode were almost boring, the last 1/3 of the first episode hooked me for the rest of the series. Episodes 1 - 9 were all great. I sincerely wish more American TV and storytelling were like this. I also hope that nothing further is done with this. Anything more would spoil what it is.

Technically good, but weak
Attention was paid to trying to depict some horrors of WWI, but too many of the characters actions didn't make sense.
