Garth Marenghi's Darkplace (2004)
Funniest show in ages
This show is by far the funniest thing I have seen on TV in a very long time. The concept of the show is genius, and the acting and props are all so perfectly bad (in a good way). The way they spoof the various 80's hospital dramas, actions shows, and blend them with some b-movie horror w/ some low budget sci-fi thrown in, is just amazing and works so well. The over-dramatics, the intentionally bad acting, the low budget look, and the interludes with the actors speaking about their vision for the show, blends into this comedic over the top, ridiculousness. Every line in this is either a hilarious well placed cliché, a silly premise, or utter silliness, all perfectly coming together to make a spoof piece that lampoons a variety of eighties shows and kept me entertained laughing out loud. It is also one of the most quotable shows ever. It is like the Spinal Tap of 80's television. The show is done so well, with every subtle little thing imaginable thrown in. You can watch it over and over and find even more jokes. Everyone who has a dark sense of humor needs to watch DARKPLACE.
Con (2005)
I am not impressed
On top of the fact that Skylar is a complete douche bag and his cons are unimaginative, his schemes require way to much preparation to make any of his scams worth while. Without giving away any spoilers (as if it matters with this piece of crap) his cons are such a sham because it takes the effort of days and days of planning, and the use of multiple accomplices and an entire camera crew etc. just to scam someone into a service that would cost less than a hundred bucks.....in addition if you read in the credits they re-stage some of the phone calls etc. because they don't pan out...The whole concept of this show is bunk because all of his cons have the cost in both the crew and the effort of ten times the actual cost of the service he is trying to get for free...what is the con?
Bartleby (2001)
Genius
A brilliant adaptation of a great story, and a lead role of a classic character that Crispin Glover was born to play. It is Office Space taken to the umpteenth level, and to top it off (almost like I willed this movie to exist) a theremin soundtrack. I have waited two long years to view this movie and today the DVD finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait.
Charlie's Angels (2000)
total crap (except for Crispin Glover)
This movie was soooo painful to watch. If Crispin Glover's character (The only thing in the movie with an iota of substance)could have just killed the three main characters twenty minutes into the film thus giving me the pleasure of watching Crispin kick the crap out of three of the most one-dimensional actresses in Hollywood, and saving me from the agony of the last hour of the film, then the film might have been saved. Instead it is an hour and a half of cutesy filler, and cheesy fight scenes.
