Outcaste the House that Carol Built (2016)
Wonderful Imagery
This film is a simple story of a woman's life dream to build a house in a very unique location. Along the way the film makers show some wonderful travel footage as well as incredible vistas. This is all brought together by a pleasant story and some very intriguing "side characters" we meet along the way.
The narrative voice is very calming and wonderful to listen to as the winding story, much like the roads traveled, finds an end.
This is a wonderful film which feels like it took moments. It is definitely the kind of film that you get as much out of as you let yourself.
Serena and the Ratts (2012)
Powerful
A POWERFUL thought provoking piece for the true fan of the art of film making. If you like creativity and sudden twists and turns, you will like this. If you like the Hollywood cookie cutter simplified glossy.... Well, This piece is not for everyone. But if you like to actually leave the theatre thinking about the context and sub context of what you just saw and actually WANT to watch it a second or third time.... That is what this movie does. The film seems a mix of Borne Identity meets Thunderball meets LaFemme Nakita meets Willie Wonka (I don't know.. it makes sense to me). It seamlessly blends the high paced energy with the fantastical. Evalena Marie has a face and acting chops that draw you in and makes you like her no matter WHAT she is doing. Jonathan Thomas makes for a great counter balance as these two actors land a formidable "One Two" Punch! My Suggestion for watching this film the first time is, sit back and let it all happen and believe in it. If the viewer does this, you will LOVE this film. It gets complicated but don't get TOO caught up in the details the first time through.. stay with it. In the end you will TOTALLY get it.. and then .. you will HAVE to watch it a second time and likely more. Kudos to the entire cast and crew of this film. A real thinker that continues to make you think long after the film is over. I look forward to seeing more from Director Kevin Barry and all of the actors in this film that really packs that punch!
