Selfie (2014)
Blast from the past
I just can't believe that I didn't click to the connection of this show being a modern version of the 1964 movie My Fair Lady with Professor Henry Higgins teaching Eliza Doolittle to be more lady like and ending up falling in love with her just the way she is. It suddenly hit me in the middle of the 5th episode and happily they even kept the first names Henry and Eliza.
Unfortunately I also found out at the same time that the show had been canceled and would only have the 13 episode first season. This is a good concept but needed a wider broadcast base to get the audience it deserved.
The Librarians (2014)
As good as the Movies, maybe even better.
I commented on this show 3 months before it went to Air after I had seen a dozen or so promo clips and read a few reviews and said it should be as good or better than the movies. Well I was wrong, It's much MUCH better and I am looking forward to adding it to my Action/Adventure series.
I'm happy to see that both Bob Newhart and Noah Wyle will be making appearances on a regular basis and even Jane Curtan will have a few guest spots too.
Now that there are fewer special effects as the giant underground Library is lost, the show has a much smaller budget and can make the first 10 episode season for around two thirds of what it could have cost. This is a good thing as it could be the difference between a second season and cancellation.
But here is hoping that the new teem (Librarians in training, LIT's) can save the day and protect the world from dangerous magical artifacts getting into the wrong hands and especially out of the hands of the Serpent Brotherhood.
I know it sounds a bit like the now ended series Warehouse 13, but it is different enough to keep the audience happy and I loved the first pilot double episode.
Can't wait for the rest of the first season and hope there will be more seasons to come.
I Hate My Teenage Daughter (2011)
HA HA HA HA ha haa haarrrrrrr
OK, I know that I really like Jaime Pressly because she is simply HOT, HOT, HOT, but she can really be bloody funny and this show is a really good comedy. I haven't seen Katie Finneran in much comedy, but between the 2 of them, you are going to need a thick towel on your chair because you are going to wet your self laughing. Who would have thought that you could take the horror and struggles of going through a young girls teenage years and make it an appealing comedy for the family. I give this show (I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER) 8 out of 10, but only so there is some room in case they make a few episodes even better.
Happy Viewing from Mike.
PS: if you don't find this show funny, see your Doctor immediately, because you have either lost your hearing, eyesight or your mind :-)
18-Year-Old Virgin (2009)
This review is for Mature readers only
This could almost be a National Lampoon movie, The story line is week, the acting could be much better, BUT...... you see boobs. There is a sort of love story to follow and if you have a girlfriend that isn't too stuffy about nudity, then this isn't too much of a chick flick that you will be bored out of your mind. On the other hand, if you just want to have a good look at some rather nice bosoms, then this will do nicely. It reminded me of the old Rus Myers movies where the gals get there gear off and the guys only get there tops off (thank goodness). But as I said, this story about a collage girl desperately trying to give he virginity away and failing terribly, is just a silly movie. I will definitely be watching it again :-)
