Silly summer fluff, but not the worst movie EVER.
12 July 2003
To make it clear, I'm not a 12 year old teenybopper in love with Justin Guarini. I'm actually a 20 year old college student who dislikes Justin very much and was dragged to this while babysitting.

I was a fan of the first AI, loving Kelly and hating Justin, so I was semi-curious to see how the movie was. I expected it to be horrible. I wouldn't call it that. It WAS a predictable fluffy musical, if you're expecting anything more, you won't get it. If you don't like musicals, you won't like it. If you want something 'deeper,' you won't get it. I must say Kelly was the highlight of the movie. Her acting is decent and her singing is above average as always. Justin is a better actor than a singer, but that's not saying much. They play characters very close to who they actually are, so I don't think it was much of a stretch for them.

Yes, it was silly and predictable, but it's not the worst movie ever. I wasn't looking at my watch ever few minutes to see when I was going to get out like I have with other movies. I can think of numerous movies that are worse than this. I probably won't see it again, but I'm not begging for my $5.25 back.

Deserved the Oscar

One of the best movie musicals I've seen. Second only to Moulin Rouge. The songs are great, the choreography is great, the acting is great. Renee, Catherine, Richard, Queen Latifah, John C. Reilley were all great. Who knew they could dance & sing so well? Too bad they removed "Class" -- I heard they put it back in for the rerelease, but I missed it. I'll have to wait for the DVD, I'll definately be picking that up!

One of the Best

Even though I'm a sucker for musicals, I wasn't planning on seeing it when it came out. My cousin took me to see it and I fell in love. It's now my favorite, or at least one of them. I seriously went to see it in the theaters 7 times (it was a slow summer). It's a classic tale of boy falls in love with a girl he can't have and the consequences of that. Yes, it's over the top. But that's what makes it wonderful. In the first ten minutes, you find out how it's going to end, but that's the beauty of Baz. All of the actors are brilliant as well. Check it out even if you don't like musicals. My boyfriend used to fast forward through the songs in Disney movies, but even he thought it was great.

10/10. Try and top it.

Great 80s Silly Fun!
12 July 2003
As a young teen, this was one of my favorite movies. At one point, I could recite the whole thing. I never had a babysitter who was as exciting as Chris, and in my babysitting experiences, the kids were never as exciting as the Andersons. I love the engaging plot and humor still to this day. Yeah, it's a bit unrealistic, but hey, what's wrong with that? Check it out if you're looking for a simple, easy to watch, very harmless, but fun movie.

Grease 2 (1982)

One of my favorite 80's flicks
12 July 2003
This movie was the coolest when I was 12. I never particularly liked Grease (so cliche and pretty predictable), so when my cousin wanted to rent Grease 2, I wansn't too thrilled. But, it ended up being one of my favorite movies as a kid. Maybe it was because of my semi-dislike for the original, but I just thought this one shined in comparison. The songs were much more fun, Stephanie wasn't lame, like Sandy, she was cool. Sandy was a wimp. I also liked the message of 'cool girl can still go out with semi-geeky guy and still be cool.' Much more positive than the message of 'girl changing herself to be liked again by guy.' If you love Grease, you won't like Grease 2 simply because it's not Grease. And if you're older than 16, you'll probably think it's stupid. But, as a 12 year old, I loved this kitschy and fun movie and still think it's pretty great today. Too bad there aren't any extras on the DVD. I would have loved to see outtakes.
