Ecos (2006 TV Movie)

Not bad, but too mild.
25 February 2007
This is your typical TV movie with a little of spook. A woman drinks too much and falls down some stairs trying to rescue her daughter from drowning in the pool. When she comes up to, the kid has disappeared and the mother is left deaf. Then she begins to hear strange sounds in the house although she's completely deaf to anything else. Here it starts the ghost side of the story. Unfortunately there's no real thrills and the pace is way too slow. The ending is too mild, slightly predictable and only good if you're home flipping through channels. I would not really recommend it to really horror fans as there's nothing truly gory going on. I got mislead thinking it was a good haunted house story. Also some parts of the plot were too muddled and I never understood them.

It makes you wonder about fate...
13 September 2003
The strange thing about this movie is that it's based loosely on a very famous novel by Dostoievsky and now it's adapted to our time and not the 19th century Russia with accurate intelligence. I felt this was a movie with many issues underlined, love, passion, teenage, crime but especially it makes you wonder about fate. Will we all have a twisted path we must follow even if it feels insane? Nothing happens randomly? This movie moved me. Because the actors are mainly coherent, the scene work fabulous, I love the way they are divided in little black-titled chapters. Don't miss it if you want to ponder a bit about huge subjects. Many said this was a bad movie but maybe they had the book too present in their minds. Just watch it as an experience, I think you'll enjoy it very much. 8/10.
