Some good parts...

...but not for Gary Oldman, who seemed to be acting in spite of his better judgement. It started decently enough at a 6 but dropped to 5 a third of the way in and then plummeted to 3 plus a wish I'd not started it. Contrived story morphed into maudlin excess by the last 45 minutes. The lack of character development was the nail in the coffin.

Great, sometimes scary fun with some Wellwaddayaknows?

I hadn't heard of the podcast and wasn't sure what to expect, so Lore was a pleasant surprise. I like the cutting back and forth between historical reports that run with a common theme and the tidbits that explain the origins of certain names and language, e.g. "saved by the bell." It can be a little uneven - I imagine the podcast is more concise - here, the dramatic recreation can belabor the stories (especially in the first couple of episodes). But keep watching! The production and acting in later episodes make for some really creepy, true horror viewing. (Kudos to the music directors.) Let's just say that as far as haunted houses and possessed dolls are concerned, Lore gives a lot of mainstream horror movies a run for their money.

If you like Black Mirror, look no further.

Like a chapter of Black Mirror, this is a near-future sci-fi story that has good acting, action, innovative sets, and a great plot. Keeps your brain engaged and entertained. Wish it could have been a mini-series because there are a lot of interesting subplots to explore. If you like this movie and haven't yet seen Black Mirror, please find it and enjoy.
