Barot House (2019)
Different and new story
It is a brilliantly made movie! From the first 5 minutes of the movie, it grips your attention and doesn't leave till the last scene. There are enough twists and turns to keep you hooked through the length.
Excellent acting from all the characters. Although the writing gets a bit vague at places, like the character of the dad(Amit Sadh) should have been more defined to justify his general behaviour towards his family. Some more scenes were need to explain the complexity of the relationship and the dynamics within the family.
Having said that, the movie is quite tightly made with very few unnecessary scenes or drags. The child actors are all amazing, especially the boy.
Would love to see such movies from Zee5. Well done!
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019)
If only, there was no Sonam in this!
The movie starts on a light note, conveying family vibes. But here enters our Miss Kapoor and the scenes start to crumble off one after another. She is such a bad actress and this role required a refined one, it makes the movie fail completely as you are just unable to connect with the protagonist at any level. To be fair with her, the dialogues are also not written with that depth and lack the emotions especially in the scene where Sonam accepts she is gay. That scene NEEDS to be re-written, with a different actress preferably.
Ohh well, and the climax! What an over-dramatic blend of unnecessary dialogues and no effort put in the development of the story to build your emotions up to the final scene and convey it in the rightful and heartfelt manner. Its just sad!
4 stars are given for the support cast which was fabulous! Made me chuckle and smile a few times just through their body language and expressions. Even the story line of Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawala was refreshing at points.
Lastly, our beloved golden boy Rao. Totally wasted here. I wish the story was about him being gay rather than a person who simply CANNOT act..
