Robin Hood (2018)
Kung Fu Robin Hood, So bad!!!
I didn't go to see this movie, the trailer was so bad, ridiculous actually that it repulsed me, I never had that expeience before when wathcing a trailer. There are so many unbelievable stories to mine in this crazy world we live in, a reboot of a Kung Fu Robin Hood!!!!! what were they thinking. It shows how fu$ked up Hollywood is when they give the lead in a 100 million production to a plank of wood, it beggars belief.
In closing, Fu$k you very much Hollywood.
Bridge of Spies (2015)
Excellent Cold War Drama
I just finished watching Bridge of Spies, I never saw a trailer and I knew only that it was a cold war true/story drama, I love Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg and that's all I need to know to buy a ticket. My only gripe, I wish this movie could have been longer. The atmosphere created really transports you to an era which seems so far away but only ended in (1989) twenty six years ago. There are plenty of stand out performances from a supporting cast of unknowns. Mark Rylance and Sebastian Koch really nail it and Hanks is brilliant. The movie is a fitting tribute to James Donovan who passed at the very young age of 53. I highly recommend this film.
Lincoln (2012)
??????????????
I love Spielberg, Day Lewis, Field, and Jones the supporting cast were excellent as was every aspect of this production. The story was well crafted and delivered. I was particularly glad they didn't relive the assassination. But!!!!!!! although every attention to detail was payed and the cream of the crop on both sides of the camera were brought to bear, it's not something that couldn't be equally compelling in a discovery channel re-enactment.
The film is deliberately drab and far from uplifting epics like the patriot, it felt like they were going for gritty realism without the grit and the only realism on display is Day Lewis likeness to honest Abe.
All Night Long (2011)
Amateur hour
Short films are a typical first stage for filmmakers, actors and crews to cut their teeth and hone their talent. I love the format because within minutes you can discover a gem which showcases the future potential of all of the talent on display. Sadly this is not the case with 'All Night Long'
There is nothing original about any aspect of film, cinematography, sound, editing and music in particular are bland and Amateurish the filmmaker is grasping at straws and shows no glimmer of the x factor that will land him an opportunity to progress. Credit to them for pulling it together is the kindest thing I can say.
Total Recall (2012)
Awfully Awful
The Arnold Schwarzenegger original was an event picture, you knew it was going to be a fun ride and it didn't disappoint. Farrell has no charisma, he's one of many of his generation who are in love with themselves. I didn't see the movie the trailer was enough to know what a bad idea it was to remake.

Beyond the Pale (2000)
Great idea, wonderful in parts, But!!!!
Irishman Patrick Shaw (Patrick Clarke -- Anton) enters the U.S. illegally with his wayward friend Seamus O'Sullivan (Conn Horgan -- Gods & Generals). Landing in New York, the pair start out with dreams of striking it rich, but soon find themselves in dead-end jobs and drifting apart. As Seamus pursues various get rich quick schemes, the more cautious Patrick holds down a Janitor's job and plays good Samaritan to washed up alcoholic author Tom Finnegan (Malachy McCourt - Ash Wednesday).
Along the way, Patrick falls for fellow Dubliner Helen Graham (Beverley Elder) a struggling actress involved in a messy break up with the much older Jeffrey (Roger Davis -- Alias Smith & Jones) Everything comes to a head when Seamus turns to backroom gambling, Tom hits rock bottom and Jeffrey makes a vicious play to win Helen back.

Anton (2008)
A Leap of Faith
When you set out to make an Independent film you do so with the intention of doing the best job you can with the resources available to you. When there is no definitive budget, (by that I mean, when you're not financed) it means there is no definitive time-line for completion. The majority of time is spent scraping together money piece-meal. You receive no income for your efforts and end up in crippling debt.
So why do it? Well; A filmmaker makes films and that involves taking a leap of faith.
Two years have passed since the completion of the film and with the forthcoming UK DVD release on October 11 (http://www.highfliersplc.com/product/284/) it's interesting to reflect on the expectations we had. The act of completion, finding an audience, and the subsequent sale of the film, (in over thirty territories to date) is all a filmmaker can ask.
Ultimately what you're left with is the satisfaction of a successful outcome to your endeavours and the belief to take another leap of faith, coming to a cinema near you in the very near future?
