Bayi Toplantisi (2020)
very bad
I watch the trailer, look at the cast and I know what to expect. Definitely not an art movie but a movie with a decent scenario, lots of fun, interesting characters. However, the movie is far from doing that. It is boring, the characters are predictable, lots of clichés, and the conversations are sloppy. The previous movies of Ibrahim K. namely Yol Arkadasim 1 & 2 and Kucuk Esnaf were much better, the characters were stronger, scenario was well-written. If I have watched it in the movie, I would be more upset.
New York'ta Bes Minare (2010)
overrated
The movie is totally overrated. There was a huge media support in the production process of the movie and this still continues. When you read the reviews, you expect to see a Memento, Inception or Seven. The reason for media support is obvious but it is not the right place to discuss. The scenario is very weak. The idea which the plot was constructed lacks rationality. The concern was always giving social messages with the assumption that all audiences are kindergarten students. At the end of the movie, I was totally dissatisfied. Not only in Turkey but also in the world, the hot topic is Islam and terrorism relation. So Mahsun exploits this opportunity with this movie. What about the famous actions scenes of the movie! I accept they are new for Turkish movie industry however you can easily see these scenes in a below-average American movie. Mahsun and Mustafa performed terribly. Is it a must for Mahsun to be in all his movies? In the movie, his voice was like singing an arabesque song.
Adab-i Muaseret (2009)
Simple
The plot is unsurprisingly simple, so from the first scene, you can easily guess the whole story and the ending. Although there are some experienced performers such as Hasibe Eren and Salih Kalyon, they go missing under the weak plot. I am not pleased to report that the leading actor (Tarık Ündüz) is unsuccessful. The relation between him and the promising actress Yildiz Asyali is not well established and so not convincing. Perhaps, the only positive comment about the movie is that it will make you recall small memories about your high school years and nothing else. I don't want to go to hard on it but no great story, no great cast, no great acting just a simple film.
