Kamigami no asobi (2014)
For entertainment and good looking guys, this is your anime
I came across this by accident and decided to give it a go. Well I was highly entertained by the sheer fun of this. Mind you , the fun did turn into some very emotional scenes, as nothing lasts forever, even in a world accompanied by gods.
Not going to spoil it by getting into what happens but basically a young school girl is taken up into what we presume is the sky to teach gods what humanity is like,
Of course, Loki is there causing all sorts of mischief and well , it makes for a lot of entertaining moments
The cheesiness is not lost, even to the creators so be on the lookout for some groanable , cringe moments
All in all a fun romp. Watch it if you need cheering up.
Love you Hades xxx.
Natsuyuki Rendezvous (2012)
starts of really good and then................pllpprrrttt
What promised to be a great premise in the first few episodes just turned into some weird fantasy like anime and very confusing
Was the creator taking some sort of drug?
I was confused half the time and then because very uninterested by the end.
As it's already an established anime (yes it's older) I knew all episodes were available to me for viewing so gotta admit - I just skipped past the scenes where the MC was in this fantasy land
The ending? Why show us that? I wanted to see something else like the other two reviewers said. Won't go into detail but yeah, if you want to watch then skip the fantasy world parts and go to the end.
Devils Line (2018)
Starts off well, gets boring
Saw a preview to this anime and it looked interesting because I thought the main characters were different. Main male character wasn't your classic 'beautiful' male as he has dark circles under his eyes.. so it intrigued me when I saw him. He looked intense which I thought would lead to something interesting
At first it really was. It was intense, he seemed really badass but as the series moved on, it really just became more of a cop show.
The sidekick seemed to disappear - a really interesting character with white hair who I thought would be a constant sidekick.
This didn't happen.
If you're after romance - there is very little as the series progresses.. it's mainly at the beginning. To be honest, the relationship developed too quickly which led to some 'oh ok so they -----'
I would check out another season though.
Suki-tte î na yo. (2012)
Lead girl turns to insecure mush when dating the hottest guy in school
Pretty much the title of my review says it all. Loner girl in high school causes most popular dude to fall for her because she stood up for herself by kicking him down the stairs.
Then they date, she's reluctant with NO self esteem and the whole series is all about her self doubt caused by dating said hot guy and her reluctance to communicate or show the fire which first atrracted him to her in the first place
Why they are together is a mystery. They have a lack lustre relationship and he coasts along and then shows intent of getting down with her
The most interesting character who I wished she would date is the mohawk dude. Speaks his mind, is totally honest and would have been better for Mei than people pleaser to the point of hurting Mei boyfriend
I couldn't wait to get through it so I could watch another series.
Attack on Titan (2022)
perfect timing to trick people into watching
What a shame that the actor from some great 80s movie such as 'the Philadelphia experiment' should be part of a project that is so bad that the head department said 'Let's release this at the same time as the popular Anime 'Attack on Titan' which is just about to release its final season tomorro with millions of fans waiting with bated breath upon its showing.
The story for this shemozzle however, is completely different.
The anime is about a society besieged by 'creatures' with a penchant to gobble up humans and this. Well isn't.
The anime has made millions and has had great reviews.
This didn't (perhaps borrowing the funds from Michael Para with a promisory note on a bar coaster) - won't.
To try and cheat people into watching this pile of garbage is humiliating to the actors - 'here watch this.. oh no it's not the anime- tricked ya into watching!!'
Yeah.. just leave this alone and watch 'The Philadelphia experiment'
Pressure Cooker (2023)
Full of ego, bragging and loud voices - yep it's American
So a whole bunch of chefs get together to puff out their chests and cook the usual tiny portions of food out of a whole cow and the 'swoosh' of a smear
Heads clash, the usual 'I'm beautiful but have brains' cliche.
A very dangerous premise when the chefs are judging one another without egotisical celebrity chefs judging with scowled looks. Nope, couldn't afford them I am guessing.
Found myself navigating away from the show, which I am sure is partially due to my restless spirit or the fact that the show isn't really exciting.
Jersey shore in Chef whites.
If you're bored and looking for something to pass the time until something better is on Netflix then this might be something.
Shingeki no kyojin (2015)
Oh so wrong
Terrible special effects
Terrible casting and naming of characters
Terrible portrayal of characters AND omission of one of the most important characters
Morally wrong relationship. A character supposed to be 33 yrs of age, in a relationship with a character who's 15
You can't have baby titans
Use of jeeps etc not used in the anime
Here's some advice. If you have never seen any AOT before you would probably enjoy this or at least tolerate it
The titans themselves do not look huge... they actually look like dressed up humans
If you are aware of the manga/.anime series , this is going to make you angry
massive pile of regurgitated Titan vomit.
Slumberland (2022)
Great effects but doesn't hold your attention
Didn't know that this was geared for children but decided to watch
Opens up well enough with a beautiful Vogue worthy decor in a lighthouse with a little girl who loses her dad via some oceanic storm
I amnot going to get into telling you what happens but I found the acting ok.. basically Jason was just being his animated normal self. If you've seen him off camera just being himself, he is a very animated \m/ \m/ type of man, This doesn't change in the whole movie
Anyway his antics doesn't save this movie. Good for kids I suppose but I found myself being a bit bored.
Good effort but unfortunately failed for me,
In Her Skin (2009)
Be warned of the murder scene
The murder scene is quite realistic'
Find acting jobs all around.. perhaps the portrayal of Caroline may have been a bit melodramatic. '
After the murder, Rachel is dragged into the bathroom.. unfortunately you are taken out of the movie because (and guess she can't be blamed) but Rachel is supposed to be dead, yet you can see her breathing.
Same Neill does well to portray her father, who seems uncaring but perhaps a bit flustered that his daughter is so psycho and has absolutely no self esteem, resulting in such self loathing.
A movie not for the faint hearted and why are they showing Rachel having sex. She was 15 .
Virgin River: A Wedding, No Funeral and a Baby (2021)
This show is a soapie on speed
Crikey, I can hardly keep up
Even at a bloody funeral they're talking about their relationship woes as if there isn't a dead body around to be mourned.
Who writes this stuff? I can't keep up with the plot twists.
Virgin River: Where There's Smoke... (2021)
holy moly... talk about big gaps
Season 2 last ep - there's a shooting with a character lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in his belly
This episode there's a hospital emergency operation scene
Next scene he's barbequing.
Did we miss something?
BIG GAPS.
The Other Side of Darkness (2022)
The reviewers giving it 10/10 joined IMDB the same time - suspish
Obviously those who have a stake in the film wanted to prop the film up but hey, if you're going to do that, at least make the scoring realistic.
Best to take an average of the real reviews.. it was dull but the movie did have a good premise. A lot more could be done but I feel there wasn't enough professionalism behind the production.
So Cold the River (2022)
All these new users giving 10/10
All these new users giving 10/10 - and one review.
Work out why that is
Read the other reviews for REAL opinions. It's clear that the new users giving full marks have a stake in this film
Shameful.
Moonfall (2022)
Put your brain away and enjoy
If you're a science freak like me, you will just smile, roll your eyes and sigh with most of the events in the movie
BUT DUDE
it's an action movie. It's not pretending to be scientifically accurate, it's designed to ENTERTAIN
And that it did.
Great special effects. Some laughs and good acting from the stars
Stop taking life so seriously and enjoy this movie.
Studio 666 (2022)
A gory but fun movie and NOT to be taken seriously
Has all the usual jump scares and is very bloody, so not recommended for children or the really young fans of the Foos
Dave as usual, is the main focus of the movie as the band use a scary house to record their next album and to help Dave lose the writer's block he's suffering from
Good special effects and good sounds by the Foos with a bit of humour thrown in.
As I said in the title, not to be taken seriously at all. It's just a bit of Rock n Roll fun.
Hellbender (2021)
a bit silly really
Has some ok premises but just played out poorly
Could have done without the band and its music to be honest as it throws you out of the story with its mediocrity and silliness
I ended up skipping through it, hoping it'd get better
It didn't.
Until We Meet Again (2022)
do the writers know what a ghost is? High scores from people who haven't even seen the movie!
So we have a pretty lady, moves into a beautiful house (who's unemployed so where's the rent money coming from)
She has a stalker ex boyfriend who she doesn't really take action against except to say 'please leave'.
The mansion she moves into used to be the residence of a musician who is now a ghost, trapped in his house.
It's predictable that they will fall in love but come on.. this ghost eats... drinks and can touch solid objects and be touched?
Uh... right.
To top it off, she has a so called best friend who doesn't believe her and doesn't bother to investigate. She just bemoans that she might have a friend who's going nuts. Yeah. Great 'friend'
Who wrote this sh** ?
Acting is ordinary, script is woeful.
It's a movie to pass the time during Covid and nothing more.
Red Notice (2021)
Not to be taken seriously. A fun romp
I enjoyed it
Typical Ryan Reynolds quips and smart arsed come back from all 3 involved
Grab some snacks and a drink and enjoy without analysing it too much.
Sold Out (2021)
how about an honest review for a change? I only see one, not including mine
I see so many 9s and 10s here in only 10 reviews, so to me it's obvious the ones gushing here calling it an excellent movie well - one has to suspect that they are somehow involved directly or indirectly with the movie's creation - or they have a financial stake in it's existence
The movie is mediocre at best - bad quality filming, bad sound etc..and less than good acting. I think that it's a vehicle for promoting the artists in this movie. Nothing special about these artists - some singing is a little flat and the songs are middling to average.
A way to pass Covid boredom.
The Royal House of Windsor (2017)
A Diana diss fest
This is nothing but an excuse to bag Princess Diana and make out how stupid Charles was
Horrible. It appeared to put the Queen on a pedestal except for the part where the show informs us of her cold hearted parenting skills.
I don't recommend this.
Occupation (2018)
No logic used in this flick even with a few good actors
The biggest mistake is to try and imitate the American blockbuster Sci alien invasion movies
Acting is ok but special effects leave a lot to be desired. Some shots look 'superimposed' and one can tell that the space ship is just put there with special effects. Leave the sci movies to the big budget fellows because over time, viewers have become spoiled with brilliant special effects and aren't going to be happy with anything less
The explosions at the footy field at the beginning looked like someone just throwing sparklers at people
The aliens looked like they were wearing masks you could purchase on eBay or some joke store.
But one big question - Alien invasion right? So where is the military? Ten months and not one military ? Not one radar saw the ships and sent out the big guns of the military against them
The ground aliens die at the hands of their own guns so surely hand grenades, bazookas could wipe out these aliens but not one jet plane in sight
Water is apparently being poisoned so during a love scene, it's raining.. does no one care about that?
Also in 8 months, hair is going to grow, yes I am being picky, but there are no hairdressers available during an alien invasion. So hair's going to grow 8 cm. I'd like to know why their hair stayed the same.
The Seventh Day (2021)
Was this a pilot? Guy Pearce seemed to hand over the exorcist role to a kid
Weird. A young boy possessed is seen to by a young apprentice inexperienced priest and a hardened, done it all Guy Pierce. The hardened 'exorcist' just hands over the role to the newb and doesn't help much, kind of a tough love scenario which is just stupid.
The reason why I am asking if this was a test run for a hopeful series or not.. because the ending sure seemed to hint at this.
Entertaining but a bit lame. Guy seemed totally uninterested in this role and seemingly handed it over to the young padawan.
Lost in Space (2018)
For supposedly smart travelers .. they made some really dumb decisions
Special effects were outstanding but as the story goes, the travelers were selected on criteria which apparently included intelligence.
I saw very little of this supposed intelligence in the first season with incredibly dumb decisions made by all members of the Robinson family.
By now, any intelligent decisions would have included throwing Dr Smith out into space, to stop anymore selfish and life threatening acts made by her (yes, as you should know, by now Dr Smith in this version is a she)
The robot is the best part of this show as long as you just accept that this alien robot learns English and sentiment very quickly, no explanations as to how, or why.
I could list many of the stupid decisions which were made but watch the series and try not to roll your eyes ... just enjoy the special effects.
