I agree with the writer who mentioned that this film is too often underrated because it deals with a very dark side of sexuality that many people deny in society and in themselves. The relationship portrayed in the film is an adult one, and as such it is not a Little Mary Sunshine portrayal. It is a mature look at sex, not love, and it never pretends to be a romance. The characters find each other and they enjoy each other in a way that many people cannot accept, and therein lies the reality, the truth of this film, as well as the reason that it is consistently overlooked. For an established actress like Kim Basinger to accept this role and play it as naturally as she did speaks to her talent as well at to her willingness to explore alternate "romantic" ideas on film. Mickey Rouke has always been a maverick force in film. Look at him in "Diner" and you will see what I mean by that. He is much more talented than people give him credit for, and younger filmophiles should discover this early work and try to perceive him as an actor, not a joke.

A film lover must see this magnificent saga of politics and love set in the tragic vastness of post-Tsarist Russia. The only error in the entire piece (non-historic, that is) is the casting of the plain Rita Tushingham as the daughter of two of the most charismatic and gorgeous actors of the '60s, Omar Sharif and the incomparable Julie Christie. There is no way in the world that they would produce such a forgettable face as that of Tushingham, herself a talented and successful actress in Britian. Otherwise, this film is just first-rate in every way. I recommend it to people who are interested in the early work of Sharif-- see Lawrence of Arabia-- and the other films of Julie Christie--- Far From the Madding Crowd and Darling-- to get a more global perspective on their careers, as well as for those who want to see Alec Guiness before he became Obi Wan Kanobe in Star Wars.

I saw this movie at LunaFest, a small film festival. I had heard about it before and I was SO excited to get the opportunity to see it. I wasn't disappointed. Very funny and original, it answered a lot of questions you might have. It was really interesting to watch Goldilocks shout things like, "Don't you think Doc's couch is way too soft?" and Dorothy say, "Until you've been carried off by a flying monkey you haven't known fear." The phraise "Guilty Pleasure," comes to mind right off the bat. A fun quirky little movie, Model Behavior is like chocolate: you eat it up, even if its not that good. Justin Timberlake is an awful actor, but that's ok. The lead actress is pretty convincing as two different people, adding different personalities to the charactors. However they both seem to slip to easily into the other person's lifestyles. All this considered, if you just want to watch a movie and not really have to think about it, then Model Behavior is right for you. It may not be the best movie, but it is fun and energenic and you can watch it without cringing that much. Again, the only thing the WILL make you cringe is JT.
