3 Days to Kill (2014)
It does the Job
If you like action and Kevin Costner, you will enjoy the movie. The plot is ridiculous in many ways, but somehow Kevin makes it work. I personally enjoyed watching him, liked his character. Pretty much as the movie goes on, thanks to Mr Costner, the the plot kinda grows on you. I found the acting on Amber Heard side super forced and no matter what you don't believe in that character. The function of the character adds to the story but acting by Miss Amber has no value and ring nothing to the character itself. Her acting is so bad, cliche, they could get any no name person there and would do this much. I personally thought they should have given the part to a complete new comer. At least a new comer would try just to impress or make a mark. Honestly the reason I thought I should write a review to warn people on this aspect of the movie. Otherwise it is entertaining. Other characters apart from this one even villains bring good action, fun, emotion to the movie. It basically delivers what it is supposed to do. Nothing more nothing less...
The Detail (2018)
Ladies are trying too hard
The writing and plots are both bad. But the lead acting ladies are even worse. They try too hard. It is some what mix of Motive and Olivia of special victims unit. Bad just very bad acting. They try too hard to give so tough and smart yet vulnerable and sensitive profiles. Acting fails so big. It is super unconvincing. I am so sorry to say but Angelina Griffin is especially bad with very pushing accent and her trying so hard to show her talent is just so visible you can actually touch it. It is just so wooden. Honestly it is one of worst I have seen. Unlike some comments, I don't think it gets better. Acting is so bad, even if the writing or plots tries to get better, it just does not work.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
Blah.. so much money wasted on something that could have been amazing
I can't describe my disappointment about Valerian. I did not have high expectations but I had no idea how one can ruin such a good potentially spectacular movie. Please do not pay for watching this movie. You can watch it if you are on the plane, and airline entertainment system is offering it. I would like to spare other souls to pay for it.
Casting is so bad. The lead character is a kid actor or trying to be adult lead. He tries so hard with a Keanu Reeves type of voice (if it is his real voice, I am so sorry)to be a some sort of hero or tough guy or sci-fi version of a 007 but failing miserably. The lead actress is just as bad, can't even describe how bad is she was. Exaggerated type of female but again fails so badly delivering any emotion but annoyance, watching her really hurts. There is no emotion for any character in the whole movie. There is no story or plot building. Just a lot of effects and visuals but the storyline has no investment in any character. Even the supposedly love story between the leading characters. It is so forced and immature, very bad acting. At the end when they kiss, it is more like watching two horny teenagers not two lead characters in love. They try to look as tough agents but fail and deliver two teenager wanna be type of thing. I think casting needs a little more mature actors. You want to know about villains and other characters why they do what they do. Of course, no info and the main story is super predictable which actually results in being bored of the movie in mid-way. You watch it for the sake of visuals not because you care about the end, or any specific character. I was so bored throughout the whole thing.
And the dialogues and acting. So cheesy and full of annoying repeated cliches, empty dialogues, emotionless exchanges. It is the most expensive bad movie ever. If there will ever be a Valerian 2 , please change the writers, directors, casting agency, and the cast... start from scratch.
