Besides the great visual effects, there was drama.
It must be terrifying and devastating waking up to a changed world, chased, attacked, hurt and finding out that he, the troll is the last of his kind.
They could have explored more the troll's tragic awakening and dive in the amazing scandinavian folk lore instead of making just another action movie.
There are troll movies a lot much better such as; Trollhunter ( Trolljegeren directed by Andre Ovredal )and Border ( Grans, by Ali Abbasi).
But for those who likes a good blockbuster, this movie can be a good choice for the weekend.
