Fallout: The End (2024)
Weird
I can only assume that most of the reviews are from folks familiar with the game. I've never heard of the game, but do enjoy SiFi. Well from the outside looking in...this is a very disconnected story and lots of nonsensical scenes. Having said that.... If you just need something to occupy your mind...trying to figure this thing out will help. I've only watched the first episode....but do think it may start to come together after a few more. Regardless...lots of graphic gore, lots of advanced technology blended with archaic technology, frame building still standing, masonry buildings destroyed.... Nothing makes sense...
The Morning Show: Strict Scrutiny (2023)
Hate the politics
This is probably the last episode I (we) watch. My wife and I are both tired of the slanted politics. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with anything coming out of the entertainment industry. There is zero effort to show why someone might have a different perspective on the subjects of today. "News" alert...if you look at the big picture ...the viewing public has different views of the world's issues ...why not provide something for everyone? Echo chamber themes ...no creativity or skill needed for that. Then to make it even worse .... There are no more like-able characters...anyone that one may have appreciated along the way manages to do something to change one's mind.... I'm out...
Oppenheimer (2023)
Liked the history
Okay...I wanted to like it more. However the first 30 minutes was a bit too much of Oppenheimer's mental visions and esoteric political bent. After that, it got better. Still be prepared for numerous time hops that can be a bit confusing, something to identify the timeline would have been helpful. I appreciated the moral dilemma, but also know that one needs to find comfort in the greater good.
Some of the liberties taken were slanted...certainly didn't make Truman look too good. Even if it was subtle, the spin was there....poor Hollywood can't help itself. Can we not just have a factual movie without the "message" ?
Shrinking (2023)
I really wanted to like this
Yes...I really wanted to like this show more. In general it has tremendous potential, great characters, interesting storyline, skilled acting... Maybe I'm a prude (I'm not) but this show has more gratuitous use of the F-bomb than any other show I can think of. Occasionally it's very fitting and what one would expect in the circumstance. Unfortunately for me it's a big distraction. I'll never understand why graphic language is so over used to the point of alienating a big part of the audience. Never met someone who said..."not watching that...not enough profanity" But I know plenty of people who, like me, appreciate a better vocabulary and the ability to be expressive without learning on profanity.
Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Disappointed
There was so much opportunity to give the viewers a satisfying ending. The episode overall was intriguing until the last 15 minutes. Now the spoiler...all the likable characters ended up dead...the most hated characters all live and go on. I was on track for an eight or nine star rating, the ending sucked the life out of that. Two stars...
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Lost Sister (2017)
Tolerate-able
I'll mirror many of the other reviews, the weak link in the series. It does offer a perspective of what could have been for El. However, it's not anywhere near the quality of the previous episodes. So it will fill some space and maybe offer something to think about...but I'm ready to get back to the real story.
The Expanse (2015)
Good show but..
But why so many F Bombs? The overuse is gratuitous and distracts from what could be realistic dialogue. I understand there are times when it's appropriate....just not every other line...especially by characters that presumably have "decorum".
Mixed·ish (2019)
Too stereotypical
Any review that is 1 star or 10 stars is someone's political agenda. There are a few chuckles...but the stereotyping is especially over the top. And to anyone that that is "conservative" it's clearly presented as the most negative portrait as possible. Beyond that...there are too many other things to watch that are much better. It won't make a second season....
This Is Us: The Wedding (2018)
Kate's imagination
This had promise but Kate's flashes of the imaginary anniversary party for Bec and Jack...just plain silly. I do however appreciate the humor in Randall's what if worse scenarios....and suddenly the change in Deja...I get why...but still annoying.
Black·ish: Blue Valentime (2018)
Makes you think
Not your typical episode. I see many low ratings...I get it...this episode was not funny. It was however "real". In a series of humor...it's worthwhile to bring reality into play....this episode did that. Now I will say we all watch mostly for laughs and don't want every episode to be such a downer...but this one for me gives you a fresh look at the characters and probably some common ground to reflect on.
