Stowaway (2021)
Great casting and great characters with a joke of a story
Spoilers ahead.
The only reason I give this thing 3 stars is because the casting was fantastic, and the characters were all so beautifully written, and they were also realistic, with the little freakouts the had in the face of catastrophy. Most astronaut characters are written like robots, but these felt like human beings, that experience emotion and feelings. Also, the final scene between David and Zoe was really, really touching, I'd give 10 stars for that scene alone if the story weren't so bad.
Now that I'm finished with the good part... What the f was this story? Who wrote it? A 13yo kid could have done a better job. This was the most poorly written plot about space that I have ever seen.
I don't even wanna get started on plotholes:
1)Whatever space organisation sent them to a 2 years trip to Mars without backups for destroyed parts???? A space mission has backups of backups of backups. This is just outrageous.
2)Why was there such a small quantity of algae??? If studying it was the main purpose of the crew botanist, I mean, you don't only send two racks of that crap. Especially considering how small it is and how little it wights????
3) How did A MAN end up there in the first place???? None of his coworkers realised he was missing??? That he went down that ship and never came back???? What??????
Now onto other errors that I find completely outrageous:
1)"This ship was designed for 2 but it was pushed to carry 3" - says no space angecy ever. Say sike right now or you just insulted every scientist and engineer who works for space exploration.
2)Who designed that ship???? It's the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Yeah, sure, let's tie up the living module, the rocket and some solar pannels with fking 4 wires of braided cable and put the 450m away from eachother, yep, that works, it's not like there's a lot of debrief in outer space that would... I dunno... Cut the wire???? And compromise the entire integrity of the ship???
3) Two astronauts were performing and EVA without being anchored to the ship with a cable???? They were just FLOATING there??? And casually sliding down those wires and pipes???? Please tell me this is a joke, everyone knows that astronaut don't just leave the ship LIKE THAT, not even in sci-fi set în a Universe 3000 years from now.
And than she's casually rappelling down that rocket? Without anything to belay her??? That's offensive for both astronaut and climbers, honestly what is this? Also, something doesn't site right with me on how the simulated gravity works at the surface of that rocket.
4)What's up with those passage ways between parts of the ship????? Why are some of them so tiny??? (and some of them not???) do they want their astronaut to bump their had everytime they pass from one room to another?
5)The Captain asking "what about the algae, isn't that the purpose of your research?" yeah, sure. A captain that doesn't know every single detail about her mission. Suuuure.
This movie really pissed me off. After the first 10 minutes with the characters, I wanted it so bad to be good, but the story just got worse and worse. A total dissapointment. The cast and the characters deserved so much more.
I would recomand the writters to do some fking research before writting a script about a space mission and if they don't want to do research, at least watch some better movies. That's it. Kirk out.
A Christmas Prince (2017)
What's with all those bad reviews?
This is a kids movie! It's the kind of thing I watched when I was 12-14. People are taking themseves waaay to serious
Tiny House Nation (2014)
Why so much hate?
The point of a home is to accomodate it's inhabitants, otherwise it is just a random house that can be literally everywhere. If you don't want to see the reason for which something is built the way it is (what some of those guys reviewing here call "drama") go to pinterest. The story of the poeple that will live in a house is extremly important for it to become a home. Especially if we're talking about houses that are so small.
I'm studying architecture. And while this is not a technical show and it is by no means made for specialists, it reminded me why I wanted to be an architect in the first place: to create for people.
Remove the human-touch of a home, and you got nothing by an empty shell. This show really captured the importance of the human being, human needs and human wants.
