Letterkenny: Crack An Ag (2019)
Letterkenny becomes iCarly
I've always been ambivalent about Letterkenny, it has its good points definitely but too many overly repetitive bits that seem to find their way into every episode.
Having said that, the new season started with a montage of farting from previous seasons and that pretty much sums the first episode. Apparently the gang has decided to start a cable access call-in show that has seemed to become the base of their activity this season. So formulaic and pointless. Save yourself the time and rewatch an earlier season.
Disenchantment: A Princess, an Elf, and a Demon Walk Into a Bar (2018)
Matt Groening has officially jumped the shark
Groening and his buddies have been past their prime since 2002, and this show seems to be the final nail in their coffin. I don't fault Groening for getting the show on the air and getting himself, and some old friends, one last paycheck but this show is absolutely unwatchable. It is everything that the simpsons would have pilloried in 1993: formulaic, bad jokes, predictable, pretentious, etc.
People will see Groening's name and give it a watch based on that alone and for this I do not blame Netflix for putting it on the air. Having said that I can think of many better ways to spend thirty minutes like staring directly at the sun or lying down in the middle of the 405 during rush hour.
Murder in Coweta County (1983)
One of the best TV movies I have ever seen
I watched this movie for the first time in high school at a time when I usually couldn't stand ANY type of TV movie. My dad was watching it and I just happened to be passing through as it was starting, and I was totally transfixed by this movie. I absolutely LOVE this movie. Andy Griffith is best known as a "good guy", but in this movie he plays one of the BEST evil, deluded, just-plain bad guys in movie history, big or small screen, in my opinion. Johnny Cash plays a very solid supporting role in the movie as the sheriff who will not rest until the crime is solved; but this film is OWNED by Griffith. If you see it listed, watch it, for God's sake, watch it. You won't regret it.
