Ted Lasso (2020)
Utter over-hyped claptrap of the highest order.
Reading the glowing user reviews of this show, I can only assume I must've been watching something else completely...
Firstly, may I just say, football and comedy are two of my greatest loves. And I'm a big fan of Sudeikis. So, the concept of this series greatly appealed to me. Taking advantage of my gratis Apple TV trial, I immediately headed straight for Lasso. Oh dear... Where does one start?
The show is poorly written, poorly acted, saccharin in extremis, and, in my very humble opinion offers the viewer no redeeming factors whatsoever. It stumbles from scene to scene in a disorganised fashion, never quite knowing what it truly wants to be. (If it does have one redeeming factor, it's the cinemaphotography. Lavishly shot and the football sequences are among the best I've seen re-created in a work of fiction).
Ooh, and, don't get me wrong, I love comedy swearing but the levels of unnecessary, unfunny profanity in this show are off the charts!
It's clear that WB and Apple have thrown a lot of dollars at this. If only they'd spent a lot more on the writing...
I trudged through the first two seasons. But, needless to say, I won't be coughing up my hard-earned to catch season 3 when my free trial ends.
In conclusion... My fellow reviewers... You're clearly suffering from a bad, probably terminal, case of The Emperor's New Clothes. And have fallen head over confused heels for the hype.
The Front Runner (2018)
Typical left leaning Hollywood fare
Rated it 6 because of the acting and cinematography. But don't expect much factual content. The Democrats were kinda hoping that Hart would be another JFK. I think the American public had had enough of that particular brand of hypocrisy by the time Hart was running. And, where WAS that damning photo?
JFK (1991)
We all know Oliver Sone's political leanings...
In my top 10 of all time Brilliant acting storytelling cinematography etc The trouble is. Mr Stone wraps himself, the film AND the viewer up in so many twists and turns that ultimately, we're still left with more questions than answers I guess, maybe, that's why I like it so much? At the end of the day, it IS a story. I've watched it at least 15 times. And I'm still none the wiser. As I'd like to assume Oliver himself is.
Dartmoor Killing (2015)
Quite, quite awful.
Awful clichéd story. Awful acting. Awful direction. As a massive fan of British Indie cinema, this film is most probably, the worst one I've ever had the misfortune to watch. The only redeeming factor is the cinematography. Kudos to the DP. But, if you can't make Dartmoor look even better than it actually is, I'd suggest finding another career...

Madam Secretary: E Pluribus Unum (2018)
Party Political Brodcast Ahoy...!
Oh dear. The cringeworthy appearance of Clinton, Powell and Albright... What was all that about? Plus, a white supremacist attack on the White House...? Oh perlease. As a Brit, I've, (on the whole, with some notable exceptions...), enjoyed the programme. Up until now. Sure, one gets which side of the political slice of bread is buttered. But, up until this thinly veiled party political broadcast of an episode, I could align it with fictional 'entertainment'. I'm now in 2 minds wether to continue watching? Signed..., 'fed up with 'Hollywood' force feeding me what I should and shouldn't think. And how I should live MY life according to their blinkered mantra', England
