Burakku Rokku Shuta (2010)
Kinda- Sloppy Story, but truly great Overall
There are some spoilers (kinda), beware. Black Rock Shooter follows the Story of Mato and Yomi, two schoolgirls trying to live there everyday life's. One day they meet and they become friends. However at the same time Otherworldly forces who have a resemblance to them take notice to this, and thus the struggle for victory begins. Black Rock Shooter has a good, well written story, but they way its put together is... Sloppy. It follows a girl name Black Rock Shooter on one side, and Mato on another. These two stories interval between each other, and the bulk of it is on Mato's side as opposed to the title character Black Rock Shooter. This is more of a Schoolgirl life drama as opposed to an action thriller. Despite this, Black Rock Shooter is still engaging, it has very well developed characters does a great job resolving and concluding is back a forth storytelling. Black Rock Shooter also has very great well done art and animation, This shines on the BRS side of the OVA. The environment is a large, post apocalyptic landscape littered with Gothic architecture. Much it is taken from the music video but it is also greatly well done. The music is also very great and engaging. On the schoolgirls side it's a mix between dramatic and soft rock, But during the much darker action sequences it Slipknot sounding heavy metal. Overall, Black Rock Shooter is a greatly well done OVA. Despite some lingering questions, the OVA is still really good and it leaves you satisfied. I highly recommend you watch this if you're trying to get into this new and ever so growing franchise.

Manga-Like Storytelling, Phenomenal action sequences
Black Rock Shooter Overall is one of the better animes of this year. This series shines through its short, great action sequences and well played out character conflicts. The series is a spin-off but it also uses the same characters from the OVA. The only real flaw of this series is the story. It flows through character Arc's similar to a manga series. Although understandable it's very confusing at time. The last few episodes are the most well played out, taking an interesting twist and bring closer. In the end I felt satisfied, a great ending to the series. The series also uses CGI as opposed to the traditional approach. Although its good CGI and it fooled me at times, I had a very mixed reaction. But at the same time it felt right because the action in Black Rock Shooter is very large and fluid, most traditional animation cant pull something like this off without using a large amount of their production budget. Overall, Black Rock Shooter is a decent anime. It improves greatly over the OVA. From including the Song by Supercell and Hatsune Miku to not leaving you with lingering questions. If you liked the OVA, you'll definitely like this series as well.
