Kingdom of Heaven (2005)
It's a sweeping historical epic
"Kingdom of Heaven", is a sweeping historical epic that transports audiences to the tumultuous times of the 12th century during the Crusades. With a stellar cast, breathtaking visuals, and a compelling narrative, the film explores religious conflict, honor, and the complexities of leadership.
Set against the backdrop of the Holy Land in the late 12th century, the film follows the journey of Balian of Ibelin, played by Orlando Bloom, a blacksmith who rises to prominence as he discovers his noble heritage. As Balian becomes embroiled in the political and religious tensions of the time, he finds himself amid the epic struggle for Jerusalem.
One of the film's undeniable strengths lies in its stunning cinematography and production design. Ridley Scott, known for his visual prowess, delivers a visually immersive experience that transports the audience to the dusty landscapes of the Holy Land. The grandeur of the medieval cities, the epic battles, and the detailed costumes all contribute to the film's authentic and captivating atmosphere.
The cast's performances are commendable, with Orlando Bloom clearly portraying Balian's transformation from a reluctant hero to a leader torn between conflicting ideals. The supporting cast, including Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons, Eva Green, and Ghassan Massoud, contribute nuanced performances that add depth to the characters and the narrative.
The film does not shy away from addressing the complexities of religious conflict. It explores themes of tolerance, honor, and the consequences of blind fanaticism. "Kingdom of Heaven" presents a balanced view of the Crusades, portraying the virtues and flaws of characters on both sides of the conflict. This nuanced approach adds depth to the narrative and elevates the film above a simplistic portrayal of good versus evil.
However, some critics argue that the film's ambitious scope leads to a lack of in-depth character development, particularly in the case of Balian. The pacing may also feel uneven sometimes, with certain moments rushing through crucial plot points. Nevertheless, the film's grand scale and thematic depth compensate for these minor shortcomings.
In conclusion, "Kingdom of Heaven" is a visually stunning and thought-provoking epic that explores the complexities of religious conflict and the human condition during a turbulent historical period. Ridley Scott's masterful direction, solid performances, and compelling narrative make this film noteworthy in the historical epic genre. Despite some pacing issues and a sprawling history, "Kingdom of Heaven" is a captivating cinematic experience that resonates with spectacle and substance.
Hungama 2 (2021)
Garbage
Very weak storyline and acting was awful. I will say this movie is pure garbage. Did not expect such a garbage from Priyadarshan.
Panipat (2019)
Poor script and and acting
I usually try to avoid history based movies in Bollywood. Because they never follow the real history. India have rich history of Muslims. But Bollywood always denies it. I am not saying to make Muslims hero. All I want is if want to make movies based on history, you have to tell the truth. Or if you don't like the history of your interested 'topic' make a fiction.
A Flying Jatt (2016)
one of the worst movie of 2016 in Bollywood
First, very lame story line. It's a joke for superhero movie genre. I hope in future Bollywood directors will care about the story if it's a superhero movie. they need a strong story line with enough suspense, thriller and ending. Second, visual effects were very poor for an international movie industry. should get more budget for visual effects. And third, performances of actors and actress were average. Tiger Shroff should realize that only action can make an enjoyable movie. Jacqueline Fernandez should improve in her dancing and of course acting. Because the only glamour wouldn't help her to survive in Bollywood. Nathan Jones did pretty well in his character. Hope rest of the year we will watch better movies.
