Charlie's Farm (2014)
Just keeps getting better & better
A great slasher flick from a very talented Aussie director. Special effects are amazing - although if you've seen any of Chris Sun's other films you would expect nothing less! I admit I have never been a fan of Tara Reid in the past and while still skeptical, she certainly redeemed some credibility in this film reminding us that she does still have a killer 'scream'! Nathan Jones as Charlie.... not much more need be said other than wouldn't you run with a 7ft monster chasing you? With titles like Mad Max:Fury Road and Troy under his belt, he brings Hollywood to Aussie horror - a brilliant casting choice for the role of Charlie Wilson. The stand out once again is Allira Jaques - a Chris Sun 'rising star'- her talent and performances just get better and better with each film. A beautiful girl with great potential - hope to see more of her in the future.
For those looking for a deep and meaningful story line - this is not the film for you. There are no 'feel good' romances or happy endings. However, if you live to be scared, love the 'edge of you seat' kind of thrill, enjoy hiding under the blankets or just love the gore and special effects that come with a Chris Sun film - then this film needs to be at the top of your 'watch list'.
Daddy's Little Girl (2014)
Simply brilliant.
WOW... A big congratulations to Chris Sun and all involved. You've created a true Aussie film with a bit of everything... Comedy, drama and the best of all - brilliant special effects in a torture scene! I laughed, I cried and shuddered at the gruesome inflictions. A drama that any person with a heart can appreciate. We've all read the stories in the newspaper and watched terrible events unfold in news telecasts before... These people are out there living among us everyday and we all have ideas on what they do and don't deserve. Now we can watch it all unfold on the big screen thanks to the hard work and determination of a brilliant combination of Australian talent. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone that can appreciate that justice isn't always enough to punish the most heinous of crimes against our children.
Come and Get Me (2011)
GREAT FLICK - Can't wait for the next one!
Great to see some Australian talent getting their names out there! I'm a huge fan of the horror/slasher flicks but they are tending to become a little boring and much the same. Come and Get Me was different and original - graphic kills scenes that actually look pretty damn realistic! The lighting was a little dark in some places making it hard to see some scenes but practice makes perfect. The acting was good all round - a few of the smaller parts could do with just a little work - but unbelievable performances from a few key characters - I wouldn't want to meet 'Johnny' in a dark alley for sure... or on a deserted back road for that matter!! And Bretto... one word... disturbed! The story line was original and plausible with a good script - witty one liners executed perfectly prevented the film from being to heavy or dark. All in all I would recommend to anyone and everyone - except the faint hearted! Expect a lot of blood and tears with a little giggle in between. Great first cinema release and can't wait to see whats up next!
