Go watch it
10 February 2006
I've just got out of watching this movie. It has everything a good horror/terror movie should have: fast actions, short and shocking scenes and music in the right moment.

It tells the story about a senior class students who are victims of a tragedy in a roller-coaster. Some of them survived, like Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Kevin (Ryan Merriman). Together they find out curious facts about the people who did not, though should, have died in the roller-coaster accident.

As the movie develops, it shows the mysterious ways in which death acts. The soundtrack and quick scenes make the spectator feel as if he were there, fighting death.

The movie is not predictable, which is one of it's main characteristics, that makes it even more interesting. Sometimes you might have a clue of what's going to happen next, but most of the time you don't.

I highly recommend this movie if you want to spend a quite scary and frightening moment watching a thriller. But be prepared to be scared.

Great story, not successful though
14 October 2005
"Una Familia Especial" had everything to be a good comedy during Argentina's 2005 soap operas' season: good story, great acting and it was entertaining.

It tells (or told, if we consider it has already been canceled) the story about an extraterrestial family who accidentally ends up living in Buenos Aires. The plot goes about their arrival and their way of understanding this "new world" they must get used to. The situations which arose from, for example, the family members confusing idiomatic expressions, were just hilarious.

Even though the plot and acting was good, the program soon started to become difficult to watch: not for its storyline, but for its continuous time slot changing.

It ended in the middle season (August 2005), with quite low ratings. I think that if they would have given it a second chance, it would have had been successful. Because it had all the qualities to be.

So, if you have the chance to watch it (despite of the fact that non-successful soap operas are not exported) don't miss it. I'm sure you won't regret yourself.

Duplex (2003)
9/10
Excellent comedy
27 August 2005
"Duplex" it's an excellent comedy. Not just for the acting, but also for the plot. The way the characters interact it's just perfect. Although the outstanding performance is the one by Eileen Essell, playing delightfully Mrs. Conelly's character.

It tells the story about Alex (Ben Stiller) and Nancy (Drew Barrymore), who buy a beautiful duplex apartment in Brooklyn, but its second floor is occupied by an annoying tenant: Mrs. Conelly, an old-Irish woman who will make their lives completely miserable.

As the movie develops, it shows all the possible ways in which the couple tries to get rid of the old lady, without any success. These situations, plus the way Mrs. Conelly handles them, are hilarious.

It has an unexpected ending, but the movie is very well-done. When I went to rent it, I had absolutely no idea I was about to rent, which I personally think, one of the best comedies.

To sum up, if you're about to go for a great comedy, I strongly suggest you go for "Duplex". I'm sure you won't regret yourself.

The Terminal (2004)
10/10
Original idea + good plot = Great movie
27 July 2005
"The Terminal" is an excellent movie: a great argument and an original idea combined together to bring us another success from Mr. Spielberg.

It tells the story about Viktor (Tom Hanks), who's country suffers a coup while he is arriving to the US. For this reason, he has to stay at the airport, as he cannot get into the country. A great variety of situations happen to him while he lives in the airport: from really hilarious to really sad situations.

The movie is great, not only for the plot but for the acting. Hanks shows once again how talented he is, interpreting the lost Viktor in the huge airport. Personally, I think there's nothing to say against this movie: just perfect. I couldn't move from my seat from the start to the end.

So, if you're thinking of renting/buying a comedy based on an original idea, I recommend you go for "The Terminal". Be sure you won't regret yourself.

Just Married (2003)
8/10
Good comedy
4 July 2005
I just saw this movie and really liked it. It tells the story about two newlyweds: Tom (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy), who go on their honeymoon and everything goes wrong: from the first flight until their arrival at the hotel in France.

I think the plot could have been enriched a bit more - it's really poor for what it could had been (or what I expected it to be..)- but it's OK. There are some scenes which are really entertaining, most of them having to do with the marriage issues/relationships.

It's a good comedy, with no outstanding roles, just good performances: Kutcher and Murphy play their roles just as expected for this film. Very good. They complement perfectly between each other.

So if you're thinking of a good comedy to rent, I think you should consider "Just Married". I can assure you'll have a good time.

My score: 8/10 (In my opinion, the could have enriched the plot a bit more).

Freaky Friday (2003)
8/10
Good comedy
13 May 2005
"Freaky Friday" is a remake of a middle seventy's movie (which I haven't seen). In my opinion, this movie it's very good.

It tells the story about a rather complicated mother-daughter relationship, and what happens when a strange spell makes them switch their bodies. It's really funny to see how a 15 year old teenager would act being in an adult's body, and the other way around. As the movie develops, they'll know how each other feels and they'll understand why do they act that way.

The performances of the two main characters (Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan) it's absolutely fabulous. Each of them has her own charm and quality, and know how to show it in this movie. It seems to me they've come up with quite good results.

Very good comedy. I recommend it.

Great movie
13 May 2005
I've seen this movie recently and I really enjoyed it.

Although it shows a problem many families deal with (having an old person in the family, and not knowing what to do with him/her), it shows it in a funny way.

It tells the story about Mamá Cora (Antonio Gasalla), a woman in her eighties who apparently, it's disturbing in her bigger son's house. Her son's wife wants her out of the house, as she is driving her mad. Mamá Cora tries to help, but unfortunately, everything she does, she does it wrongly.

The family goes through lots of trouble, trying to solve what to do with Mamá Cora. While all this happens, a confusion makes the family believe she dies, and that leads to the funniest scenes of the comedy, although the whole movie is hilarious.

If want to rent a good comedy, I strongly recommend you to go for "Esperando la Carroza". Not to mention the outstanding performances of actors like China Zorrilla, Betiana Blum and Luis Brandoni, among others.

My score 10/10. Excellent movie.

Envy (2004)
2/10
Not good at all
13 May 2005
I usually like comedy movies. I really enjoy them. But I don't really get the point of "Envy". I mean, it has a dull content/topic, and it's not really funny.

Although the acting is generally good, it's not enough for the movie to get at least a bit interesting. Stiller and Black don't show all their talent in this movie.

So, if you're about to rent a comedy, I suggest you definitely don't go for this one. Unless you want to get bored, and I can see I'm not the only one with this opinion, because even Jack Black apologized for it (take a look at Trivia).

Shrek 2 (2004)
10/10
Excellent second part
21 December 2004
"Second parts are always not good as the first one." I don't know who exactly said this, but certainly, he/she wasn't talking about Shrek 2.

The freshness of the characters (Hopefully, it's the same or better than in the 1st movie),as well as the new characters, make this movie really entertaining and hilarious until the last minute.

The new talking-animal introduced "Puss in Boots", it's incredibly well interpreted by Antonio Banderas, who, at least from my point of view, takes some of the "major figure" from Donkey(Eddie Murphy), which was also really funny, though it didn't have the presence of the 1st movie.

The movie, as the previous one, also includes some really well-thought gags, which give the movie that "something", which doesn't let you move from your seat while you're watching it.

It is a mix of good animation, humor and a love story, which, amazingly, brings up another excellent production from Dreamworks Studios. I can't wait to see the 3rd part..

I strongly suggest that, if you hadn't have the chance to watch this movie, take two hours to rent or buy it and I can assure that it'll not be worthless at all.

Fuckland (2000)
Confusing
9 July 2004
I've seen this film for first time and I find it confusing. At the beginning, the movie starts as if it were about to show how Malvinas was under British society and government, though it doesn't. Only some scenes show how the people live, with some disgusting comments.

The few scenes where it really shows how Malvinas are now, really shocked me. People driving on the right hand, with a British flag. I felt really sad 'cause that's our(Argentina's)island. And a not very friendly sign in the church: "We accept argentinians as long as they don't say these land is their property".. Moreover a comment from a Briton that also shocked me:

"-There are a lot of argentine people here" "-How much is a lot" "-One."

About the film, I find it not very serious, 'cause it has some sex scenes that shouldn't be there, and with an unexpected ending.

My opinion : ** out of *****

La niñera (2004–2005)
Pass
11 April 2004
"La Niñera", the argentine version of the popular succesful american sitcom "The Nanny", is a good show to watch. Although some adaptations may not be what expected, the show is hillarious and the actings of Flor Peña, Boy Olmi, Carola Reyna and Roberto Carnaghi are excellent. Without comparing it to the original one, of course, because where the actions take place is completely different(Buenos Aires is not New York), and the social situation the same. The actors fit perfectly into their characters and combined make the show a complete hillarious one. If you have the opportunity to watch it, don't miss it. If not, why would it have so high ratings?.

La Niñera: 8/10- very good acting. Fun show.

Excellent film
11 October 2003
"Déjala correr", it's a really good movie. The acting it's really good, and it has some fun scenes also. The links between scenes are just perfect.

It tells the story about Diego, a 20-year-old guy who is given a mysterious recording camera, but he doesn't even imagine what he is able to do with it. The movie it's great, it has an original idea and the plot is excellent.

In the last scene, something you'd never expect happens.. I was really surprised. You'll just have to watch it.

I strongly recommend you this comedy, if you're about to get one, and you can be sure you will be fully satisfied.
