Mister Frost (1990)
9/10
An Underrated Gem
25 November 2009
A chilling portrait of terror without any gratuitous violence. This is one brilliant film, many a film lovers probably missed, and a film that succeeded instilling sheer terror in audience without any gory details or bloody violence. Like 12 Angry Men, the words and pure acting, accolades to Jeff Goldblum's brilliant performance as the eponymous character where the name became evil itself. It's difficult to get a DVD of this movie as it's out of print and the one's are quite pricey too, however you'll find the full movie in Google Videos. In Australia it was titled as Deadly Mister Frost. If the movie is in your TV channel don't miss it.

Author of Crimson Rivers strikes again
14 October 2006
This excellent thriller owes most of the credits to it's author (the book) Jean Christophe Grange and actor Jean Reno. You will find some similarities of the film with Crimson Rivers, which is also based on Grange's book and Jean Reno played the lead character Commissioner Pierre Niemans. Like Crimson Rivers, the movie begins with seemingly two different events and a pair of cops trying to unravel the mystery. Anna Heymes (Arly Jover), the wife of a respected government official Laurent (Philippe Bas) is having a rare amnesia and nightmarish hallucinations of horrible murders, while in the Turkish neighborhood of Paris, Police Captian Paul Nerteaux (Jocelyn Quivrin) is trying to solve the possible serial killings of the illegal Turkish women with the help of an ex-cop Jean-Louis Schiffer (Jean Reno), who is also an expert in Turkish underworld and organized crime. Eventually these two seemingly unrelated worlds begin to collide into a web of danger and dark mysteries. As usual, Grange's work made this movie a cerebral action thriller. Cherish it.

A Heart Warming Movie with a Message
6 June 2006
Sathyan Anthikkadu's films are always simple, candid and humorous. Veendum Chila Veetukaryangal (Again Some Family Affairs) is no exception. This movie was a box office hit, but underrated by its simplicity. This is the story of Kochu Thomman (Thilakan), an aristocratic Christian who has a warm heart and love for everything, especially to his younger son Roy (Jayaram). When his son boldly marry a Hindu girl of lower cast, it changes everything. Director Satyan Anthikkadu is famous for his satire-like comedies, but this one is not exactly a comedy but an heart-warming, inspirational drama with a brilliant climax. It's more or less, an equivalent to Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I would say, it's the magnum opus for both Thilakan, Jayaram, Script Writer Lohita Das and Director Satyan Anthikkadu. The performance of Pappu and Oduvil also deserve some commendation.
