Zen and the Art of Landscaping (2001)
Short and sweet
Great little short film that aired a while ago on SBS here in Aus. Get a copy if you can - probably only good for a few viewings, as you'll end up remembering the script - and it's the twists that make this film so funny. Well directed, and intriguingly scripted, it's an example of just how good low-budget short films can be.
Alfred Packer: The Musical (1993)
Simply brilliant!
One of the funniest films I have ever seen, 'Cannibal! The Musical' is more than your standard student film. It combines the best possible script that could be written about cannibalism, catchy and uniquely funny songs (that have no story-telling value whatsoever :)) and the Monty Python-esque stupidity that Trey Parker and Matt Stone seem to love.
'Cannibal' has a brilliantly funny mix of the British and American styles of humour, and SOMEHOW Trey Parker makes it work, despite his incredibly low budget. It is plain to see that Parker's unending enthusiasm and energy carry this film from a dodgy student project to the realm of cult classic.
It should be noted that the trailer included on this site is the original trailer made by the guys in college, from which the film was derived, not the other way around. An indescribably funny movie, which shines despite it's B-grade nature. All in all, 'Cannibal! The Musical' is very highly recommended.
