The Santa Clauses (2022–2023)

Really Bad
17 November 2022
Just had to outline how bad this mini series is. It's even worse than The Santa Clause 3 which takes some beating. It's certainly not a homage to the earlier films and I'm surprised Disney gave this the go ahead considering its content, poor script, bad acting and Tim Allen especially has not aged well although I accept the premise that Santa is past it and has to retire.

On the upside the special effects are on par with the films and are visibly acceptable but even considering that positive this series still gets the thumbs down.

Of course the content is directed at children and younger ones may relish the sight of the on-screen Santa in anticipation of the upcoming season.

This reprisal could have been so much better than its turned out to be.

I have say again it is cringeworthy bad and having switched off half way through the second episode I won't be returning. Shoddy from the politically correct Disney. We expect better.

Best Of British Drama
22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was hooked after the first episode. Original storyline based on true events. An array of first class popular British actors but unfortunately Alun Armstrong gets it in the first episode. Addicted and loving it. BBC drama at its best.

Sceptical as to the credibility
14 June 2022
I have been sceptical of these types of programmes since Most Haunted was revealed to be a sham. I'm also suspicious of the credibility of the 'mediums' that appear on these shows. Nor am I sure about revelations of fairies and imps. Gail Porter is annoying because all she wants to do is leave each investigation site before the end of filming. Chris Fleming who I've never heard of before is not convincing. The other two members of the team do offer some credibility to the show which is reasonably entertaining if you like this sort of reality programme. Undecided as to whether or not the content can be trusted.

Stylish Thriller
9 March 2022
Binge watched all episodes. Excellent thriller, stylish and atmospheric. Filmed with the quality of a movie and coloured as a reflection of the era in which the series is set. Even the soundtrack takes you back to the great crime dramas of the 60's. Produced by Steven Saltznan, son of Harry (007) and it has the settings and locations we've come to expect from a Bond film. Good acting from all, good script and moves at a pace. Comparable with the original.

Not Liam Neesons finest hour
5 March 2022
This seemingly low budget action film was not Liam Neesons finest hour. Poor script and even worse acting with amateurish action scenes. Forced myself to watch it all the way through and wish I hadn't wasted my time.

Just Weird
29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Quite one of the strangest dramas I have EVER watched. Each episode is stranger than the last culminating in the fourth episode, part of which is acted out in a western theme and a gunfight. A true story, the main figures are characterised by fine actors Olivia Coleman and David Thewlis who do a good job but even their acting abilities do not detract from this weird fantasy version. We persisted to the end but it is four hours we will never be able to get back.

Not The Sopranos
4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Very disappointing. The prequel to the Sopranos cannot be told in a single film. It was a nothing story with a majority of unknown characters, it doesn't have a start story or an end story and in between means little, apart from introducing the audience to a young Tony Soprano. A hard watch and hardly a tribute to the excellent series.

Absolutely Brilliant
1 October 2021
One of my favourite films. Has everything, drama, comedy loads of action. Scripts are great, characters well casted and the action/effects are excellently orchestrated. Oh...and Colin Firth should have been Bond, James Bond..

Rio Lobo (1970)

Shockingly Bad
31 August 2021
I'm sure I must have watched Río Lobo many years ago. Unfortunately with nothing else to do I decided to watch it again. Apart from Wayne the rest of the acting is wooden especially by those actors taking the principal roles and the script is shockingly bad. The only positive is probably the musical score which is typical of Waynes westerns. Not a good one for 'The Duke'

So it wasn't the Poh Show
20 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Quite enjoyed this season once it stopped being the Poh Show. There was too much favouritism and air time shown to this contestant. 75% of the time I think the contestants had too much of a free rein as to what they were allowed to cook and all too often they resorted to their respective comfort zones and were not tested enough with regards to their all round flexibility. The finale was made more enjoyable as the two finalists were not the most likely ones. It was a journey of epic proportions. Unfortunately my favourite was booted during the semi final...Boo Hoo!!

Reality Show With A Difference
30 March 2020
Having watched over a couple of nights its a reality show with a difference featuring every sort of scumbag you can imagine, people who should be nowhere near animals of any kind never mind big cats. These 'Zoos' (and I use that term lightly) should not be permitted to operate anywhere in the world and the American authorities should be closing down these money making scams where little thought is given to the welfare of the animals and where the making of money is paramount, where animals are used to enable promiscuity amongst other things and where the abuse of animals is common place. Puppy farms on a grand scale. I found it a frustrating and annoying watch whilst also being interesting and entertaining.

Cringeworthy
20 January 2020
OMG this is terrible. Is it the most politically correct series on TV. The acting is as bad as the original and the story lines are even worse. Completely cringeworthy and a waste of airtime.

Dracula (2020)
2/10
A Comedy Of Errors...
4 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In my view a poor adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel. It starts well and along the lines of the original telling with Harker visiting the aged Count at his castle but soon after turns into a light hearted romp featuring a lead character trying to be strangely humourous. The story departss abruptly from the novel when Dracula unexplainedly arrives in present day England, presumably Whitby having spent 127 years under the sea.confronted by armed police officers one being a descendent of Sister Van Helsing. The shenanigans continue with a present day Jonathan Harker (presumably another descendant) and his girlfriend Lucy. Not even halfway into the third episode I switched off. I know its a fictional tale but this BBC adaptation is just a ludicrous attempt at drama comedy with very little drama and certainly no thrills.. Wasn't impressed and its not for me
