CSI: Cyber (2015)
I like the Theme music!
Pros: The Theme Tune.
Cons: The Acting. The Script. The Cinematography. The Story lines. The Direction. The Production. The Makeup.
I'd rather watch the Kardashians evacuate their bowels than this.
For the record, you cannot download a picture from a social media site, extract GPS meta data, run facial recognition, determine phone imei, perform real time tracking and trace this persons entire communications/movement history in 10 seconds... You cannot crack 256bit encryption by printing algorithms on paper and looking at it for a few minutes. You cannot have IP address starting with 972. Cameras are cameras and the FBI cannot remotely login to every camera in the world. Get real!!!
Spun Out (2014)
Not Funny (At All)
Firstly let me say that the review from 'slickmcshady' is clearly written by someone from the show. Any review that can list all the actors and script writers and all of their previous work is suspect to say the least.
Now the show. Stereotypical, clichéd, lazy sitcom. I found myself wondering why the laughtrack was being played at moments that were decidedly unfunny. I didn't laugh once during the entire half hour. There should and could have been great potential for a sitcom set in a PR firm but unfortunately it is all to formulaic. If this is what they produce for the pilot I really can't see a future.
Avoid. 2/10.
Transparent: Pilot (2014)
Dreadful Woody Allen inspired tripe
Please, oh please Amazon, don't air this drivel. I don't like Woody Allen. I don't think he's a genius. I don't even think he's a good film maker. This show just seems to be an awful awful Allenesque family drama that was painful to watch.
It tries way to hard to be "real". In doing so it comes across as contrived, pretentious nonsense.
I've watched the other 5 Amazon pilots and this is by far the worst of the bunch. The After and Bosch are well filmed, engaging and entertaining. This however was a half hour of waiting until it was over. And when it was I wished I hadn't watched it at all.
AVOID...
The After (2014)
Solid Sci-Fi drama with great potential.
I enjoyed this pilot. While there were some flaws, overall it was entertaining, engaging and has a great deal of potential.
The acting, while a bit clichéd at times, was convincing. The cinematography was really quite good and the story left a lot of questions, which is what you want with a good sci-fi.
I didn't know quite what to expect from Chris Carter despite his past productions and I did get a big Abrahms vibe from the show which I took as a good thing.
This show could go either way and I really hope it delivers on the promising start. A solid 7/10.
The Wild West (2013)
Dreadful (with some decent visuals)
The good: Some of the cinematography is stunning.
The bad: Everything else.
I couldn't make it through the first episode. The premise is basically Timothy Olyphant anthropomorphizing every animal and all of their actions. And if that's not bad enough he is doing it in his monotone Deadwood accent. "A spotted owl homesteader dad is trying' to raise his young'uns alone". "Slick the banana slug may be dressed up fancy but he works as the local farmer". As so it goes on ad nauseam.
Visually the show is well shot and looks incredible with some great aerial views and beautiful close-ups. But it is impossible to get past Olyphant's droning narration and the awful, awful script.
