Iniyum Kurukshethram is typical of the action movies in malayalam in 1980's where a corrupt and defunct system forces the protagonist to take up arms. Mohanlal is an upright Police Inspector who is in love with his morapennu Sobhana and lives with his cousin brother in his Uncle' house. Both the cousin brothers are in love with Sobhana their rich Uncle's only daughter. Mohanlal is in confrontation with C.I Paul the rich Abkari who is the defacto Govt in the town.

This might be one of the few films where the hero loses from beginning to end. The climax is a major letdown . The performances are above average but with an outdated script the movie pans out badly . At many places there was dragging and the Hero is shown ineffectual at most times.

The film may have been OK 25 years back but looks very bad now. I am giving 3/10 and avoid rating Waste of Time

Beautiful is one of those movies which surprise you because of its simplicity. Beautiful has a very simple story about the life of Jayasurya a rich paraplegic but what makes the movie stand out is the script by Anoop Menon. He has made the movie enjoyable. Despite the main character being paralyzed from neck nowhere does the movie become's clichéd , sentimental or melodramatic which is another positive.

Performances Jayasuriya continues to impress me with his growth from a comedy actor and delivers a memorable performance. Anoop Menon impresses as the singer and Jayasuriya's friend. Meghna Raj looks beautiful and puts a nice performance. There are a lot of subtle comedies and nicely written dialogue in this movie. On the negative side I found the music average and one song was unwarranted.

Malayalam Cinema need mores of such well scripted films. 8/10 Watch it

Lal salam is one of the many classics of the golden era of malayalam films between 1985 to 1995. Among this Lal salam stands out because of its political genre.

Lal Salam is loosely based on the real life story of Thomas Vaidyan , Gowri Amma and Thomas Vaidyan. It tells the story of the transition of Communist from being banned outlaws to the corridors of power. D K (Murali), Nettooran(Lal) and Saidu( Geetha) are leaders of the communist movement in Central Kerala. Nettooran is also in love with Anamma(Uravashi) daughter of a landlord Madhu.The communists are banned and in the process of strengthening among workers.

Performances : Lalettan as Nettur Stephen has delivered a masterclass performance. Murali, Geetha and Uravashi also show their class. Murali in particular has got one of the best roles in his career as D K. Murali and Lalettan together carry this movie.

The movie shows the transformation of the communist movement and the setting of the rot of power in the party.

Must watch

I was surprised to see the low rating for the movie. This movie is a good comedy entertainer.

Lal lives with his Uncle and his cousin's five kids in their house. The kids are very naughty and cause problems. Lal is also engaged. In this situation Shobhana his old sweetheart from college comes with a kid she claims is his.

This movie has all the ingredients of an entertainer like comedy , suspense and drama which priyadarshan has weaved together.The highlight of this movie is the performances by Lal, Shobhana and thilakan. Shobhana in particular has acted very well. The chemistry between Lal and Shobhana is good.The kids also act very well and the comedy track involving them is enjoyable.Another thing which strikes in the movie is the music which is also good.

One of the reason for the low rating could be the ending which some people may find disappointing.

Overall i would recommend this movie for watching and rate the movie 9/10

Director Fazil is known for his family based sentimental dramas. Pappayude Swantham Appoos is a movie of this genre. It revolves around the relationship between Appus(Master Bahudshah)and his papa(Mammooty), a widower. Into their life comes a girl Meenakshi (Seena dadi) and the rest of the movie revolves on these three characters.

What makes the simple story work is great direction ,script and acting especiallly by Mammooty and Bahudshah. The songs of the film are classics and pictuarised very well.The highlight of the movie is the last half hour which has mammooty at his finest... on the negative side the movie is sometimes melodramatic.

At the start I would like to tell that this movie is not for the light hearted. It is a very disturbing and realistic movie.The movie traces the story of three women, Suhasini as Rajalakshmi a gifted poet who has to deal with a fiancée who can't accept her ideals. Seetha(Parvathi) who is in an unhappy married life with raveendranath(Murali)and Vimala(Ambika) who is divorced and attached to her child. The story moves through the challenges faced by the three women. The story is brilliantly portrayed by the Lohithadas Sibi Malayil combo . The performance of all three lead women is brilliant. In addition Murali shows his class in his role. This is a story about Women and their standing in society.The story is relevant in the times we live

A must watch for all serious movie lovers

Dasaratham is one of my favorite all time movies. Great script , Great acting and Great direction . All three come together in this drama.

The highlight for me in the film is Lal as Rajeev Menon . The transition from a rich playboy to a mature father is very well portrayed by Lal.This must be Lalettan's finest performance as he combines comedy and emotions in this role wonderfully.He deserved a national award for this movie but then maybe the movie was ahead of its time.You truly feel the emotions through his acting in this movie. The rest of the cast like Murali , Rekha etc have also done a wonderful job. The climax scenes and emotional scenes can move anyone to tears.Special mention should also be give Lohithadas script . What a script, such touching dialogues and director Sibi Malayil also proves why he is considered the best in drama and emotions.

A must watch.

Harikrishnans is a well made commercial entertainer by Fazil which has all the typical ingredients like comedy , drama , romance , action and suspense.

The real highlight of the movie is the amazing chemistry between the lead actors Mammooty and Mohanlal , their comic scenes are too good.Their combination scenes are really well taken by the director. The music is also really good. Juhi Chawla also gives a good performance in her only malayalam film.The search for Mohini Varma and the innovative climax are other highlights. On the negative side at some places the script feels contrived to suit the star images and to give them equal importance.

Overall a must watch for the coming together of the Giants of malayalam cinema .

Nayam Vekthamakkunu is a political satire and a family drama both at the same time.The story is about T sukumuran(Mammooty) , a simple political activist who spend all his time dedicated to his party neglecting his wife and kid.

The heart of the movie is the performance by its lead pair Mammooty and Shantipriya.Mammooty delivers an excellent performance as a politician and husband.Shantipriya also delivers an excellent performance and their chemistry is good.Among Jagadish stands out with a very good performance as mammooty's sidekick.The direction by Balachandra menon also deserved praise.On the negative side the film drags in some places.

Overall a good family story set in a political background.

Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans is a typical Renji Panikkar style political thriller. The background of the story is an ordinary man Gopalakrishnan(Jagadish) from a local colony becoming a minister due to certain circumstances. The challenges he face form the rest of the story. It is a typical Renji panikkar-Shaji Kailas film with hard hitting dialogues set in the backdrop of the political situation in 1993.

Jagadish has given a decent performance though he shows his limitation in some dialogue deliveries.Narendra Prasad as the scheming Politician delivers a standout performance.Suresh gopi also delivers in his short cameo.The rest of the cast delivers good performance. As with Renji Panikkar films the heroine Suchithra doesn't have much role and the romantic track is minimal.

The Film is a good one time watch mainly due to Ranji Panikkars script and direction by Shaji Kailas and a very good first half.
