Masters of the Air (2024)
Confused cast of uninteresting characters
After three episodes. I am still trying to figure out the characters. The missions are well explained but the flying is done by a confusing mixture of people who all look and sound the same, with and without their flying masks.
Honestly, I am still indifferent to what happens to them and I should have some emotional feelings about the various characters by now.
Memphis Belle is far better than this sprawling television series.it was obviously quite expensive but the Band of Brothers had interesting characters from the bad to the noble but thus set are so bland.
I do hope that it gets better and I start to care about the characters.
Downfall: The Case Against Boeing (2022)
Complex story well explained
A complex story well told. Bare faced greed of senior management ends up in deaths. As usual, the worst part is lengths people go to engage in a cover up.
Sherlock (2010)
Started great and then choked
Not the first series to disappear up its own ar*e, but unfortunately a great loss for the rest of us...
La maldición del guapo (2020)
Good for Spanish language students
This movies is quite poor. However, as it is some multi national funded effort all of the actors must have been told speak slowly and distinctly. Thus, instead of the usual blur of quick fire dialogue, I could understand that they were say. Script was still very poor.
Strike (2017)
Excellent location scouting
I lived in London for nine years and worked all over the city. I think that the location scouting for this series is excellent and I am truly impressed. The series is very good as well.
Ireland: A Television History (1980)
Important TV series in both Ireland and the UK
This was an important TV series in the middle of the 'troubles', as it was a fair and factual series explaining to the UK public the history behind the Northern Ireland situation at the time. As it was factual and balanced, it was also able to end some unchallenged myths of Irish nationalism. The key was the integrity of the presenter, who was direct and sincere.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006)
No Irish soldier was ever asked to murder his brother
This movie took a complex period of Irish history where idealism crashed into reality and a civil war resulted. It was an insult that an English director would suggest that an Irish soldier would be asked to shoot his brother. It makes the Irish seem depraved and fanatic.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Good not great but hot actress
This is a good self aware movie about teens pushed out of their comfort zone and becoming better people, etc... Good dialogue and well paced plot. However, it had a whole different dimension due to Karen Gillan, who is really hot but not hopeless in her role..
