Don't watch this if you have to fly regularly.
17 March 2022
This show is single handedly responsible for my fear of flying. I love it, it's so gripping and informative but discovering that one tiny faulty screw can bring down an airplane and kill everyone on it coupled with learning how bad the maintenance on these planes are because of how the airlines push the mechanics has pretty much guaranteed I will never set foot on an airplane again unless I'm drugged into unconsciousness and carried to my seat.

Not a fun family film
12 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you turn this on expecting a fun quirky teen movie think again.

I'm not saying it's a bad movie at all there's a sweet message, but there's nothing in the description that would have led me to believe that a young boy would commit suicide halfway in.

Not what I was in the mood for at all.

Too long
2 December 2020
I just finished season one and so far this has a basic interesting storyline through honestly if it was half as long it would have been twice as good. The pace is so slow. This season could have been all tied up in half as many episodes and would have avoided the dragging that made me want to fast forward through parts of it just to get to the end of the story already. I can't fault the acting or the writing at all though.

Toyland Joyland
26 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This is my favorite version of Babes in Toyland.

Warning though this is not a film for very young children.

This film contains great big goblins and and evil goblin king, the elements can be more frightening that you would expect from a children's Christmas move. It didn't bother me but you need to think about your individual child some scare easier than others. This is one you may want to preview before letting a toddler watch.

That being said however I really loved this as a kid and went out and found it on purpose so I could share the magic with the kids in our family.

The mother goose land aspect of it is really fun for kids, there are a few really good songs in this as well.

I don't think you can say this is a rip off of Disney's version at all. This animated and Disney's was live action. Just because something isn't Disney doesn't mean it should be discarded.

Worth looking For
26 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
With only a small bit of the plot in my memory I tracked this video down and purchased it and it was worth looking for.

This may not be big budget and it may not be well known but it has a really cute story line.

It is important to note that this film may be too scary for young kids. Make sure you know what will scare your child. You may want to watch this before you let your kids see it.

This movie if full of color and fun songs. The characters are funny. Two bandit thieves trick Pinocchio out of a special gem and he has to go to the Carnival to get it back. The evil Emperor of the night it out to get Pinocchio's free will to destroy the good fairy. Overall it's worth at least giving it a chance. Don't miss great videos just because they aren't blockbusters.

If you enjoyed this look for Gallavants Happily Ever After (the continuation of Snow White) Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland

Better than the movie
26 August 2011
There are thirteen tapes, thirteen episodes of the Babysitters Club show. Why they didn't make more I will never understand.

The young actresses in this film are brilliant, they are believable as the characters because they are just normal girls, you could imagine them living down the street playing with your kids.

Each video presents a wholesome and fun experience for your daughter. Just like the books do. Some of them are mysteries and some are just fun stories.

If you want to provide your daughter with a good series to watch or read that presents a moral foundation you can be proud of this is it.

The film version pales in comparison to this series. You may recognize a lot of the actresses in the feature film but they don't embody the characters like these girls did.

Here are the names of the tapes in the series if anyone is interested in obtaining them.

Mary Anne and The Brunettes Dawn and the Haunted House Stacey's Big Break Kristy and the Great Campaign Baby-Sitter's Special Christmas Claudia and the Missing Jewels Dawn and the Dream Boy Claudia and the Secret Passage Jessi and the Stolen Secrets The Baby-Sitters and Boy Sitters Dawn Saves the Trees Stacey Takes a Stand The Baby-Sitters Remember

They Never made an episode out of one of Mallory's stories though...I never got that.

Good for a fan or a child.
26 August 2011
In the Alvin and Chipmunks canon this is probably the least interesting video. However small children would enjoy this flick around Halloween.

As usual any Alvin video is full of really catchy songs that even I can't stop humming.

The theme of this video is on the lighter side so there is no need to worry about scaring your kids with this movie.

The animation is bright and cheerful, I can't help but find Alvin, Simon and Theodore really cute in this, though it's probably a video you want to sit your kids in front of and then leave the room.

If you enjoyed this you'll enjoy these too.

Another Great Alvin Movie
26 August 2011
This is a great movie if you are a fan on the Chipmunks or if you want to introduce your kids to the Chipmunks.

I usually watch this around Halloween time, it's not scary really at all except maybe for the very young.

The Chipmunks are always lighthearted. Alvin's antics are great and this movie is full of great songs.

The animation is bright and colorful, the story is cute. I'd recommend this for young kids who want to get into the mood of Halloween but don't want to be frightened by the usual films played on television.

If you enjoy this I'm sure you'll enjoy their other videos and episodes released on DVD.

Cute Kids Film
26 August 2011
It's true this film may not appeal to anyone over nine years old, but then again I enjoy this still as an adult. It's a cute family film and the second in a series of three about these kids. It's wholesome and perfect for a young "detective in training" This is one to enjoy on family night. It's cute enough and interesting enough that it probably won't even drive dad crazy. (and that's saying something!)

The plot it just enough to keep little eyes on the screen, but it isn't too hard to understand. I would recommend this for an evening in with pizza and board games with your kids.

The other films in this series are.

Clubhouse Detectives in Big Trouble

and Clubhouse Detectives in Search for a Lost Princess

Big Trouble or Big Fun
26 August 2011
This is a perfect example of a movie for kids that is appropriate and still fun. There are three other Clubhouse Detective movies with these kids. I saw this one on HBO a long time ago.

The kids have to save their clubhouse from being taken over by the neighbors and become embroiled in a treasure hunt to earn money. The kids are a lot of fun to watch on screen. The rivalry between them and the neighbors is cute, it will probably remind parents of the one kid in school that acted the same way. It's not scary at all for anyone older than five.

This is a good one to watch with the family, no annoying songs and it's not sickeningly sweet, great for movie night.
