Great movie
31 December 2008
The negative comments are probably by Americans who were at least for this war, cowards. It was the Canadians who did all the real hard work in this war. I really hate it when Americans think every war movie should be about them, and how they won all the world wars single handedly. My grandfather lost his leg at Vimey Ridge. A movie about Canadians achievement is long over due and Passchendaele is a movie long over due. I thank Paul Gross for his movie on Canadians in war and the fact that the British owed the Canadians a lot for getting them out of several tough spots after another. I know the story is about his grandfather during the time of the war. Everyone in Canada was affected by the war especially since reports on the war were kept out of the papers by the government so not to alarm Canadians about the casualties.

Excellent movie

I think it was a great movie. It was not perfect, that is true, but when it comes from book to movie you have to be a little realistic here. An example of that is LOTR if they did it exactly by the books each one would be 5-6 hours long, and nobody but the fans of the books would sit through that.I have read all three books of this series. I liked these stories a lot better than JRR Tolkiens immortal books. more action, better endings (LOTR ending sucks). I am hoping they do the other two books as well, but I imagine that will depend on the DVD sales. The cast was perfect and did a great job, my only beef is that the movie was too short, but it was very well done, excellent movie.

Excellent movie
20 April 2008
I have watched a lot of botched historic movies, especially about my country Canada. This was an excellent movie. Great care was taken to do it right. I was absolutely spellbound by the story of "The Last Confederate". I do not agree with Mr. "Why Bother", truth is why bother us with the boring trivial statement you call your opinion. I mean you could 49, but your opinion makes you sound like your 12. A lot of care and love for history as well as a sense of family went in to this movie, as well as the belief in telling a good story. Movies like "Gone With The Wind" is a good story in general is typical of Hollywood screwing up history, just like filming a movie called "Saskatchewan" in Jasper, Alberta.

Classic

The most beautiful classic love story of all time Mr Z is one of the best directors I have ever seen. I have watched this movie several times and it never fails to wow me. The first time I saw the movie in the late to mid 1980's I cried after I saw it.
