The Last of Us (2023)
Brilliant series
Finally a series, or film for that matter, that sticks to the storie that has been told in the game that got it all started.
Teams that work on games are not any less of story tellers than film-makers are, yet their works often get misused by directors that want to make their own story of it and make it all a "based on the story of..." mixture (e.g. Resident Evil could've been SO MUCH better).
But to get back to The Last of Us, it's a very well written story, it's got those tense moments and the casting agency did a great job. I found it to be one of the most enjoyable series from the last 5 years.
If you enjoy the zombie-like series/films, you're definitely going to enjoy this one. The quality is right up there with the first 2/3 seasons from the Walking Dead.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Brilliant
The characters, story and choice of music, I'm loving all of it.
I do understand the criticism about season 3 (though I personally still really enjoy it), since it differs quite a bit from the first two seasons. But I think it has all the potential to build towards an even more interesting Star Wars universe to continue this one and create future stories. So for me personally, I see this season as a story of side quest. And hoping that I'm right about this one, and if not, I'll just enjoy this action series as well. But in that case I'll give it an 8 out of 10.
Hope this series will get several more seasons for the full storie to be told. Pessimism will only take away this possibility.
Fuller House (2016)
Just for the memories
It's fun to see them back, but the laughing & cheering machine is really really REALLY over done. "I like milk in my coffee" hahaha, "I prefer it black" hahaha....
And it's just not as good without Jessy, Joey and Danny (only doing in now and then), but still okay to watch. Would give it a 6.49 out of 10.
1 rittoru no namida (2005)
Incredibly touching story
It's been 12 years since I've seen this series and it's one I still remember very well. Though the story might not be unique in its kind (since it sadly happens to more than just Aya), the choice of characters, music etc. all contributed into making this series one of the best I've seen. Definitely the one that had the biggest impact on me.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
Not funny
3rd film ever that I stopped watching. Watched it for 1 hour and 45 minutes and it only once had made me smile. Acting is okay though, just REALLY not my kind of humour.
Tellsell is funnier than this film.
Halloween II (2009)
Jason Meyers knows what you did last summer
Lots of dumb folks getting killed by a dumb Michael Meyers, who like Jason now just follows his mother's voice and is often walking around with a hoodie instead of his mask.
Oh, and do expect to get seasick from those wobbly flashing camera shots.
A few okay action scenes, but furthermore just loads of overreacting and cursing characters.
Silas Weir Mitchell's appearance was a nice surprise though.
Would've been a 4/5 if it was just another horror film and wouldn't have been given the name Halloween.
Full House (1987)
Still funny in 2018
Just discovered it on Netflix and watching it again and really enjoying it. Love the setting, the non complicated humour and diverse characters. Definitely deserves better than a 6.7 (at the time of writing)
How It Ends (2018)
Did I fall asleep?
It's not really that bad a film. The acting is decent, the story is decent, all is decent.... but when I saw the credits I had this strange feeling that I had fallen asleep or something and missed the end of the film. I've seen strange open endings, but this is just like they were out of money and decided to not even do 5 minutes extra to work towards a decent ending. It's just a bam slam end of the film ending.
Would've rated this film a 6.5 to 7 out of 10 if it has a decent ending.
Grimm (2011)
One of the best shows I've seen
It's one of the only shows where I got to like the characters, hate them later on and slowly started liking them again. This had nothing to do with bad acting, but because of the plot twists and GOOD acting.
Many might say they've all seen this in other series/films, but let's be honest... after 100+ years of television, aren't all new series and films comprised of stuff we've seen in other forms in other series/films?
Dard Divorce (2007)
Only suggest this movie to someone you hate
This film must have the worst actors I've ever seen, I mean even sitcom actors are Oscar worthy compared to this.
Then the way the story is being told..... it's a wonder I didn't fell asleep. The only reason I'm giving this movie a 2 out of 10 is because it only wasted 87 minutes of my life, where most movies are several minutes longer (Yeah I know I just should have pressed the stop button, but I guess it's my stubborn nature that keeps me watch the movie to the end).
The idea and actual storyline might have been OK, but they screwed this one up so bad, that this doesn't even matter anymore... I hope that tomorrow when I wake up I'll believe that watching this was all a bad dream.
Like I said, use this movie by suggesting it to people you REALLY don't like and wish they'll have a awful night.
