I am not British, but I have been a huge fan of BBC comedies and especially the absolutely brilliant TV series the name of Graham Linehan is usually associated with. "Black Books", "The IT Crowd" and most recently "Count Arthur Strong" are on top of my list.
Although "Father Ted" is the earlier bird chronologically, I've never seen it and have been deliberately delaying to do so, in order to keep it for later and enjoy it last. You know, as something really good or sweet, or both...
As I result I watched it for the first time now, in 2021. And I didn't like it one bit. I mean, it's absolute dribble. It looks like something made by a 3 year old for other 3 year olds. You can't be serious with that ridiculous rating, people!
There are quite a few infantile moments in all comedy shows, there's no denying that. But this... this is almost entirely infantile. It somehow managed to squeeze a laugh or two during the whole torture, hence the two stars, but that's all.
Absolutely awful experience.
