The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Perfectly splendid? More like perfectly average.
This whole show was just one massive anti climax. Am I the only one who felt like nothing happened at all? Barely anything scary or 'spooky'. Compared to the first season this show is an absolute flop. From the plot to the kids acting (which was absolutely shocking). As a British person the best acting and accent in the whole show was Oliver Jackson Cohens Scottish accent and he's from London. His acting was good, Victoria Pedretti is always good despite the terrible script. The kids were probably the most annoying actors I've ever seen or heard (you can tell they're spoiled posh brats in real life). There was nothing British about this show at all... it just felt so phoney and fake having all these Americans trying to fit into this culture and then some of the accents of the American actors were so so bad like they weren't even trying. Why not just set it in America? If you're going to make a british gothic horror series at least try and get more british actors and actresses and if they are American/Canadian at least get them to do a somewhat good accent. The whole thing just came off as cheesy. The last few episodes just absolutely killed any potential the show had by cramming this new plot line into the last two episodes rather than building up to something. I give 3 stars purely for some
Of the good acting that was in the show and I was really impressed by Oliver Jackson Cohens Scottish accent (as a Scottish person he was bang on).
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Action packed and exciting, would watch again!
I randomly decided to go see this film today because not much else was on. I've never really paid much attention to Star Trek as a series and I never even saw the 1st movie of these two, but I loved this movie, and I am pretty picky with films! (Maybe I'm biased because I'm not some oldschool trekkie, but who knows). Anyways, lots of action, a lot of edge of your seat moments, not dull at all, exciting, good acting from most. I would give it a higher score if it wasn't for Chris Pine whom I CANNOT stand as an actor. I don't know what it is about him but I just cannot take his acting seriously, and his acting is just meh, not something I would remember, competent at best. I don't know, he just didn't seem very Captain Kirk, maybe if they made a Star Trek tween movie I would understand, but this...not so much, I imagined someone a bit older and more mature to play his role. (Its like having Russel Crowe play Spock or something crazy, it just does not go!) NEVERTHELESS! I loved the film and didn't leave feeling disappointed, and Zachary Quinto's acting (Spock) was AMAZING like usual. If you're looking for a film to see and aren't sure give it a watch, you don't have to be a trekkie to enjoy it! :)
The Possession (2012)
The whole cinema was in hysterics by the end. Made the Spice Girls movie look good.
I've seen a lot of horror films that have been kinda OK. But this, I mean. I honestly didn't think it would be that bad. THAT bad. You would actually think that it was a comedy, by the end of the film, people were actually laughing so hard, the whole cinema was laughing together. Not even kidding.
It was just so stupid. The acting wasn't bad but everything else was stupid.
1. Pointless symbolism? Kind of? (I don't even...) The moths for example. Appeared in the movie about 5 times as if they were really important and it wasn't even explained as to why they were SO key to the plot. What was the point if it wasn't going to be explained what their purpose was. Just threw them in there for the hell of it. Maybe the director just likes moths. 2. Characters that are completely oblivious and just dumb. Don't get the hint till about 20 mins from the end. Yeah your child is just going through a phase...a phase of raw steak eating, being obsessed over some stupid old box, stabbing you, becoming the moth whisperer, looking like they're on deaths door. Yeah, just a phase. I went through that too once. 3. The ending. I stopped caring about the 'plot' at this point.Daughter possessed, dad possessed, all possessed together! Yay! Exorcise my child? Here, take my expensive as hell bmw! I don't need a car anymore. Randomly getting hit by a lorry. Woops. R.I.P Jewish exorcist man, you will be missed.
Don't waste your money if you think you're going to get horror. But if you like comedy, I strongly recommend this. I laughed so hard I cried.
1 star for the acting.
