Depiction massaging ego but fair entertainment quotient
6 November 2022
For some reason Bollywood picks up historical topics and depicts historical facts inaccurately just to massage the ego. It is high time we critically analyse our military history and start to learn from our tactical, strategic and technology follies instead of attributing all our losses to too simplistic conclusions of treachery and deceit..

From an entertainment quotient perspective the movie is a one time watch but if have to compare Baji Rao mastani is the best from the recent ones in my opinion from the recent historical ones from Bollywood..and again it is a pleasure to see directors doing way better than Bollywood with movies like PS for instance...hope Bollywood gets its act together before it is too late....

Nothing new
5 July 2022
It is no where near the grandeur that is displayed in Padmavat. From a historical account perspective it depicts more of the fictional and legendary account around Prithviraj rather than accepted history.

Poorly researched on the depiction of warfare.

Lastly extremely poor on entertainment quotient as well. Pathetic dialogues, some were cheaper than a B grade film. Looks like someone had to make a movie else the budget would have lapsed and therefore they created this pathetic thing in rush.

Fake ratings

Half baked story, with no natural twists and turns in the story. Waste of 2 and half hrs.......with probably a headache is what one would get. Outdated story and plot....

More of a love story than comedy
27 March 2022
The plot is not very well developed. It takes a while for the movie to reach a point where it could become fun but even after that one is left high and dry for comedy scenes.

Poorly researched
19 August 2018
The episodes are poorly researched and only provide a superficial insight into the different armies/cultures/civilizations. At the time factually in accurate espcially when it comes to episodes others than Romans/Greeks which is the only thing that western scholars seem to know about..!!

Hilarous
5 May 2018
The plot, acting and everything is hilarious and entertaining. I am surprised that they did not continue and ended it with just one season.

A Rare Subject to find a movie from Bollywood
28 May 2016
It is rare to find a movie on such subjects from Bollywood. I rate it 10 on 10 just on that basis. To top it the plot has been developed well with a lot of characters thrown in to keep the plot interesting. The George and Ibrahim character for example. George is particularly interesting as he displays the typical Indian stereotype who are so fond of picking on others mistakes but will rarely do something on their own. It also shows how there are some very good people in the Indian bureaucracy because of which things still move. I would love to see another movie on the Yemen evacuation. I would recommend this just on the basis on the subject on which this movie has been made.

Why should you watch it?
16 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It's a documentary on Ms. Peaks. There are no intimate scenes. It is a documentary without any plot or a story line. To put it simply, nothing, just a big busted woman in various stages of undress. You could easily find big busted woman with implants during the period of the movie. You could also find movies with very good plots as well. Did not find any USP for this movie. So not sure why one would watch it unless they are a fan of Ms Peak.

You could find better fantasy or X rated material easily. I am surprised to see that it has rating of 7.3 at the time of writing this review.

Not worth the time finding the copy.

Indian Shawshank Redemption!!
13 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I would say it is the Indian version of Shawshank Redemption. Both these movies are amazing tributes to the indomitable human spirit and that is where the parallel ends. The setting and context are very different for the two movies.

The love story provides a very nice context to narrate the story of how frail man surmounts all odds. The social issues of caste system, politics, corruption and the Indian indifferent attitude have been blended very nicely in the story which has taken inspiration from the life of protagonist Dasrath Majhi. There is an amazing simplicity in the entire narration with contextual comedy, scores at the right moment which maintain the tempo of the movie. I found it a gripping narration.

Nawaz-ud-din Siddque has done justice to the character. In fact there are very few in Bollywood who could have pulled it off. He is sure growing in stature with every movie.

I hope it gets a nomination for the Oscars in some category.

Highly Overrated , No Story and Confused Direction
31 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There are not many reviews which cover how bad this movie was and so I felt compelled to write one. For one, a rating of 9.1/10 on IMDb. Its an insult to the entire film making industry. Off late specially for the Bollywood movies people are being able to rig the ratings on IMDb as well at least for a short duration which is sad.

Coming to the point...everything is fine till Rani lands in Paris. Within a few sequences she completely forgets that she is in Paris and starts talking in Hindi with almost everyone...LOL. So the character is not conservative she lacks common sense and downright stupid. And then she has the guts to travel in dark and deserted alleys and is surprised to hear that the stewardess has a child without marriage...Give me a break..perhaps they did not have a television also at their home or was she from the 50's. I am not sure if the Rajouri they are referring to is in Delhi.

If it was Delhi, its an insult to the Delhites. The director tries all these gimmickry to evoke sympathy for the character of Rani but sadly there is none. In fact, the sheer stupidity that the character portrays evokes contempt for her.

It's evident why so many people have rated this movie highly as they take it to be female empowerment. Going on a binge is not becoming assertive or becoming empowered it only shows the weakness and shallowness of character.

Confused Screenplay and a Drag for 3 Hrs
22 July 2013
The screenplay was completely confused and a lot of sequences where added just keep in a certain audience in mind and completely diluted the gravity and seriousness that the movie such as this should have tried to aim for.

When you try to cater to all the segments of an audience you end up with a very average to a below average piece of ****. That is what BMB is. Even I find it surprising that how MS approved of this movie.

Maybe FA did a good job but one actor doing a good job does not make a good movie and that counts for only 5-10% of the overall product.

The sequencing of the movie was completely mixed up and resulted in confusion. The movie drags for 3 hrs and they do not have any good content to show. The characters have not been developed properly and unnecessary sex scenes have been put. Had they put in one more scene I would have not hesitated it calling it a soft core porn movie.

Cannot help but compare it with Paan Sign Tomar which has a very similar story. It was a much much better than MBM on all counts and although FA may have worked very hard IK did much better job as Paan Singh. While I will not blame FA for it, the character of MS was not at all developed in the movie as the director had set out to create a typical spicy Bollywood sex flick rather than anything worthwhile.

Touches on a Very Releant Issue Faced by the Society
14 July 2013
I do not think the film is released yet, but I am eagerly awaiting its release.

The least that one can look forward to is that it touches some very pertinent issue and evil faced by the Indian society the Section 498 of IPC which will destroy the very fabric of the society and affects everyone in India.

Given that the director/producer have at least shown the guts to touch upon this subject is worth an applause.

Most of the Bollywood producers are only concerned about producing the same old c*** which has no relevance to what is affecting the society.

One of the better and Different Comedy Movies from Bollywood
14 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I found Fukrey to a decent comedy movie from Bollywood after a long time. For a change it did not have the cheap and double meaning jokes that Bollywood crap is so prone to these days.

While the script was not that strong the movie had a good tempo all along and was fun to watch. Given that few Bollywood movies have any script this one was a lot better.

Most of the cast, specially Choche have done a fairly good job. Some of the stuff was mindless but that was the intent as well. The director did not try to pretend that it was something else.

The theme is about some kids wanting to get into college by any means and how they land into trouble and then get out of it. It was fun to watch it. One of the better stuff from Bollywood in quite a while.

Another Typical Yash Chopra Movie!!
13 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Another Typical Yash Chopra Movie to sum it up!! Same old story with the crew traveling to exotic locations at your and my expense. If locations and songs is what you are looking for go for it.

If there is anything else you are expecting avoid it(not worth wasting the money and more importantly the time).

SRK does what he does best over-doing things.

KK has that same expressionless face of a model walking down the ramp.

The said part was that even the Discovery folks got drawn into this flick. Yash Chopra and Discovery are too brands that should not go together.

From an expectation and delivery standpoint reminded me of Ra-One.

Sheer waste of Time...no story and confused direction
25 August 2012
It was a sheer waste of 2 hrs of weekend morning. There is no story. Its the same of Bolly wood script twisted slightly modified to give it a new look. Seems none of the youngsters were ready to do the movie with the original script so they modified it to make it a love story for two middle aged folks.

There was not development of the characters.

The director had no clue on what he/she was trying to make. It was not a comedy for sure. The uncle thrown in to add some humor fails miserably in doing so.

Farah Khan should stick to what she does better. A person who has undergone a Botox treatment can give better expression than her.

The only saving grace was Boman Irani, but with such a pathetic script even he could not do much.
