Excellent and original musical
25 September 2011
In the English translation, "As if it were love" is one of the best and possibly the most original musical I have watched in the last twenty years. London theatres would have a lot to learn from the choreography and arrangements of this Italian modern musical. A fantasy story of pure Italian intrigue around politics and love lends itself perfectly as the background to surprisingly pleasing modern ballets and songs. Unfortunately some Italian critics failed to value this musical discarding it as having a weak story and trying to find some political interpretation, but if one looks back in the history of English and American musicals the story line is always a pretext for fancy choreography, music and dances.
