Somewhat Today's London
22 January 2024
I had a very different idea about the film after watching the trailer. But it didn't disappoint and in a way depicts today's London even though it's supposed to be dystopian as I agree with most of the comments.

However most people don't really understand the metaphorical depiction that actually people are classified, alienated, pushed out of their homes and zones and left in poverty by the system.

I know stories of people and I can also relate to the housing problems and neighbourhoods that are neglected and crime becomes increasingly apparent. Not as much as they describe in the film but pretty soon all this and much more can become the truth.

Not just people of colour but more diverse and low income groups are all in the same boat.

This isn't a real reflection of London now but still explains the system and what may come to pass if things aren't improved and more humane.

Disorganised, Confused, Full of gaps and inconsistencies in the story
6 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I shouldn't even be commenting here but just want people to avoid the same mistake. Someone I know said this is good. Boy was he wrong.

I usually like TV films and independent series. This one is really quite bad.

Especially what happens with the nanny when she takes off stealing the memory card from the nanny cam. That whole nanny scene goes even awkward when the police doesn't even bother with someone who pepper sprays and steals the memory card from the lead.

Then the typical, "oh you probably cannot cope with your husband's loss that's why you are hallucinating" blame is so stupidly overused. The police doesn't even want to look for the nanny but asks for a ballistic report for a gun in a case.

The lead somehow keeps the gun that killed her sister. Come on!

Whoever wrote this piece of crap didn't even watch enough productions in this genre.

Predictable and too long
18 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Guillemo del Toro is still fantastic but the thrill is not enough to save the film.

I found this to be a bit too predictable with a few surprise scenes. The film was following a certain path then enter Kate Blanchett.

With the new character coming into play things have taken a turn and gotten psychological and interesting.

But in the end the film stays predictable, too long and distracted. Especially in the second half when Dr. Lilith introduces Stan to highly influential and dangerous people. Stan gets greedy and includes Molly into the game and bites more that he can chew. Even the scene with Molly showing herself to Ezra is screaming they will fail and there will be cock ups.

You can see what is coming in the end. Including the ending scene where Stan becomes the geek as part of karma.

Could have been a much greater film if they played onto the psychological aspect of things and gotten deeper on that theme. You can feel Guillemo del Toro signature but not one of his greatest works.

Quantum Level Hallmark Family Drama
20 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film could be called Scott Lang and her troubled genius teenage daughter who just built quantum tech.

Just 15 minutes into the film and you start questioning lots of things about the film..

To me it felt like a Hallmark film for the family but with some unhappy drama that you cannot normally find in one of those.

Film is full of sci-fi cliches. Drink the ooze and understand aliens? Erm.. this was something I saw before in John Carter. Stuff from Star Wars to the Fifth Element.

Scenario and script feel very forced and unorganised. Everything everywhere all at once..

It is definitely enjoyable and worth watching but nothing special about this particular AntMan film. Just a random gathering of sci-fi fantasia.

Still better than the Gentleman
16 May 2023
Guy Ritchie had amazing films in the 90's like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and yet these latest ones, the Gentlemen and Operation Fortune, feel extremely mediocre but this one is still way better than his previous.

The film is full of action and somewhat fun but in parts feels very cheap and poorly made. Jason Statham is still great with fight scenes but definitely shouldn't run.

Aubrey Plaza was absolutely fantastic and added the funniest moments to the film.

Overall, it is not bad at all and definitely watchable but honestly it sucks to know it's from one of my all time favourite directors.

Yelling, CGI and more yelling, and some action
1 February 2023
I had some expectations but as this is one of my least favourite Marvel universe series for me not such a big surprise.

Black panther was mediocre and this is nothing short of in that sense. Wakanda Forever has some more in the plot but still fails to deliver.

Acting lacks spirit even when they mourn their king etc. And anything else is extremely dramatic and over the top.

Just like any other marvel film this is packed with action and lots of special effects but that's not completely enough to make this film more unique than others.

Some scenes, especially with the teenage scientist is cringe and awkward.

Nice to watch to kill time but that's all.

Pretentious fake soulless lame
22 January 2023
As a gay man I always crave some nice gay themed films regardless of the genre.

I thought this would be some light rom-com film to relate to and enjoy and laugh a bit, and maybe even dream a bit about finding someone special etc.

The film fails to deliver anything but depicting gay stereotypes which was sort of funny but nothing new and nothing exciting. Especially to us gay men. Besides there isn't all there is to being gay.

I can't laugh and I can't connect. I am not a drama expert but acting felt mediocre too. Just lacks soul.

We need better films otherwise best gay film alternatives will be gay porn.

Repeat scenario, not much new
1 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It feels like every cartoon these days has the same elements. I just watched another before this and they are literally the same thing except for the cast.

Clumsy group of people jeopardising the mission. The one who is good at the job resentfully accepts these people and their cockups. A very talented pet joins the hero to save the day several times. They try to complete a mission, the rookies become a bit better but still suck and the hero teaches them how to be better all the while learning to accept others who aren't as good as him. And on and on.

The story seems different but characters and the things happen during the adventure is nearly the same thing in a lot of the productions. We need better storytelling.

To me this is one of the most mediocre pixar films and most productions have the same feeling after having watched the third Disney animation today.

Ruined potential with cringe humour
7 February 2022
I don't understand why they come up with a good story and great art only to ruin it with 10 year old humour.

Some moments were very cringe and annoying. Ruined the beautiful artwork for me.

Interesting and good topics and nice production and unfortunately ruined by the host.

I MEAN OMG. LIKE UNBELIEVABLE. I CAN'T EVEN ...

This needs to be at least 150 characters so here is unnecessary words to just fill in the empty space just like the host does in this production actually. So there you go...

Compelling, Well-prepared, Cinematic
6 January 2022
Espionage genre is my least favourite following heist films but this historical drama is so captivating I just randomly started watching and could not stop. This could be one of the best productions on Netflix. It's also interesting to witness the past, not the political part but the lifestyle. Just outstanding.

And I fell in love with Sacha Baron Cohen for his impeccable performance.

Well-written and witted satirical film
26 December 2021
I loved it from start to finish. The dark humour, the sad truth about some of our current realities, human emotions, weaknesses, ethical dilemmas, tribulations, the depth and all the meaning about existence and life along with all the details they placed in the background of every scene make it the best movie I have seen in a very long time. Music by Nicolas Britell is also a marvellous touch to the film. Absolutely brilliant!

Not the humour I expected but fun

I think it's not perfect but still fresh, funny and at parts relatable. It has gotten better by the end of first season.

And, the soundttack is just unbelievably good.

Season 2 marks the end
13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The series started be very promising. By season two, particularly towards the end things have gotten really awkward and scenario became funny. For me the last drop was episode 13 and the scene with Donna. The superman guy and other super strong characters are just standing by while Donna held the pole and got electrocuted and just died there. If you will get rid of a character at least do it by the hands of superman while fighting or some other way that would make sense. The scene was ridiculously childish and sloppy and ended the season for me in a terrible way. I wonder if writers ever thought this through. Overall the season was full of stupid moments like these. Shame the potential is wasted.

Yeah instead of catching bad guys just stand there and look at them or give introductions about them to confused bystanders. This is seriously ridiculously childish.

Not bad but not good enough for a Nolan film
1 December 2020
I really like the idea but it lacks something. Maybe I expected too much as it's a Nolan film. I found second half better as things have gotten more meaningful, faster and ideas better presented towards the end. Really interesting movie. The only things I hate are the constant music bleeding my ears and Kenneth Branagh trying to pull Russian accent.

I wouldn't think I'd like it so much because it's a kinda cheesy rom-com but it made me feel good. Might be about the holidays. There were some hilarious moments too. Definitely worth watching.

Waste of cast, money and potential
31 October 2020
I like the idea but doesn't go beyond that. It feels as if it was directed by 10 different people. Story telling is horribly random, it's like when you cannot organise your thoughts well. The cast is quite strong except for the villain and the rookie girl. In the end it's below mediocre.

I love Beyonce's music. I always thought she is really stylish. But this is not even as powerful as her own music videos. The title could be better. This seems like pushing an agenda. And a bit meaningless too.

Arrogantass Foul: Pure Cringe
12 June 2020
The kid (portrayed) with overinflated ego and arrogance is so repulsive. Nothing likeable about this hero/spy thing.

No proper intoduction to the universe. Totally messy story telling. Mediocre acting.

With all the delays in (post) production you would expect much more yet feels rushed.

This is seriously one of the worst movies of the genre.

It doesn't even go well with wine
6 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have been craving for some good gay romance for a long time. Since the background is Italy, I thought it could be much better (maybe even kinda artsy). Hearing Italian and French were the only things that excited me as a speaker of European languages. And since the film is about gay romance I thought it could be promising (and judging by the high ratings). I chugged a whole bottle of rosé but I still couldn't like it so much. It didn't convince me about their love and certainly left no mark (even on a gay man). Armie Hammer is cute and all but not the best choice for this role perhaps.

The first half when the story was depicted from Eliot's point it was somehow exciting. Took me to my youth very briefly. But later things got kinda messed up and I really lost interest. Particularly the peach scene. I mean seriously wtf? Wish I watched Bridget Jones' diary again. Total waste of 2 hours with nothing really impressive.

Sorry but I don't understand all the "masterpiece" comments either. Have you seen any other gay romance films at all? I mean have you even had a crush on anyone when you were that age? Then you know what I am taking about. It's not that horrible to see but never a masterpiece.

This is what happens when you sell your soul
20 December 2019
I don't understand why all those high voters are criticising people who vote low. People who vote lower have very solid reasons if you care to read. There is nothing hip or cool about giving low scores to a movie. It's because there is mostly genuine disappointment. Please watch it by all means and see for yourselves so you may be prepared for next Disney move on a beloved trilogy or film.

I have been a huge a fan since I was a child. Still have the toys from 80's and all that. Man! I loved Star Wars. I was so disappointed with the Disnified versions and this one draws the final line. It's the lethal blow and not at all an epic ending to an epic saga. I should have been paid for watching my all time favourite getting spoiled. This final one is so exaggerated, absurd, loud and yet soulless.
