Echo 3 (2022)
Two people in love... and her husband
I'm not sure who these almost incestuous sibling relationships are supposed to resonate with but it's very cringe worthy and unnecessary. He calls her "babe" and "baby", kisses her forehead and they tell each other they love each other 45 times in the first episode. If I didn't know better, I'd say she wanted to marry him instead of her bratty husband.
I don't find any of the American characters endearing whatsoever. The wife is weepy, then sarcastic and rude, then looking around confused. She is supposedly a veteran traveler but doesn't seem to know the basics about the country she's visiting.
Husband is a hothead, petulant child who caused the whole thing and continues to make things worse.
Brother is trying way too hard to look morose and broken up about his sister. Cliche "I don't drink unless I'm feeling stuff".
The only person that was passable was the journalist and the bar is set pretty low. The lesbian "bosses" were beyond ridiculous.
All I all, it's poorly written, poorly acted, and poorly filmed. Don't waste a moment on this one.
The Office: Search Committee (2011)
I love this show but...
The introduction of Catherine Tate, who is arguably the worst character to join the show since the idiotic Ed Helms. Equal parts horrible personality, failure to endear and cringe inducing "comedy"; she always marks the beginning of a rapid downward spiral for an unbeatable show prior to this point. Whenever I see her face, I know the laughs are over.
Preacher (2016)
Fantastic show!! But...
I really enjoy this show. It's hilarious, poignant, sincere and innovative. The casting is phenomenal (love Cassidy and Jesse), the costume design is great and the sets are incredible. Very gritty and raw.
I only have one complaint. The amount of portrayed animal abuse is disturbing. From the constant slaughterhouse noise in Quincannon's office to the murder of a dog, it's all too much. I'm well aware that the visuals aren't real but the cattle slaughter noises must be and I find it unnecessary and grotesque. I truly hope they can remove this aspect from an otherwise fresh and exciting new show!
Fear the Walking Dead: The Dog (2015)
Kind of a joke.
SPOILER: Third episode in and I'm becoming less and less impressed. I feel like the whole cast is on downers. No one reacts normally to things that would scare the hell out of anyone with half a brain.
They go to the neighbour's house to get a shotgun and leave the door wide open. Really? Their dog gets eaten by a different neighbour and they stand unflinchingly in the window and watch. No emotional response. Even when said neighbour gets shot twice in the face with a shotgun, all we get his an incredulous grimace. The older woman next door is growling and grabbing people through the fence and they just watch her through the window like a bird at the feeder.
These people definitely need to go back to acting school. They're emotionless, disinterested and clueless. Everyone just seems bored, to be honest, and so am I.
The Big Bang Theory: The Habitation Configuration (2012)
I can't be the only one
I have to begin by saying I have never liked Amy Farrah Fowler. I don't find her funny or endearing in any way. Her bumbling social ineptitude, selfishness and insecurities do not make her quirky or cute, but rather annoying and irritating. I can honestly say that I have never laughed at a single word she's said since she came to the series. This episode always rubs me the wrong way. She begins by being rude to Wil Wheaton and then expects Sheldon to defend her when Wil dares to say something mild back to her. If anyone should apologize to anyone else in this episode, it should be her. But, as always, Sheldon has to bend over backwards to make her feel better for an issue that she herself started. I also feel that she is slowly ruining Sheldon. Although I do appreciate him slowly becoming more "human", this could have been accomplished with a far better match for him.
The final issue I want to mention is the amount of screen time that is wasted on her. I for one would rather spend my time watching any of the other members of the group, than another Amy-centric waste of 21 minutes. I truly hope that at some point in the series, she'll be written off for good. Please, Chuck, I'm begging you! This is my favourite comedy show!
The Office: Traveling Salesmen (2007)
Ed Helms is the worst addition to an amazing show!
I enjoyed this episode a lot. I liked seeing the sales call interactions between the characters who don't often spend much screen time with one another, like Karen and Phyllis, and Ryan and Stanley. I also really like seeing Angela in such a great mood. The only issue I have with this episode is the underhanded and backstabbing way in which Andy maligns Dwight to Michael throughout the entire show. I don't enjoy Ed Helms as an actor and when he was in a few episodes in Stamford I hoped I could ignore him until his character was written out. Unfortunately, he has been added to the core group now and I find him to be a distasteful and unwanted addition. He really does ruin every scene he's in. Though I've watched the entire series from beginning to end several times, this episode always serves as a reminder why I strongly dislike the Andy character and Ed Helms in general. Although I suppose it did serve as a reminder to why I find Dwight so endearing. Sacrificing his career to protect Angela and hugging Jim goodbye. He can be so caring and sweet!
