The Simple Life (2003–2007)
hilarious
3 December 2003
Warning: Spoilers
Note: Spoilers are included.

This show is funny without trying to be. The girls are complete ditzes but that's what makes the show funny. Lots of good laughs. ROTFL. Kudos for them trying something different, I bet that most socialites wouldn't try that so I got to give them props for doing that.

I watched the first episode & Paris Hilton's aunt said that she would rather go without food for 6 weeks than go without a cell phone. How vain is that. Anyway, if a person has lived all their life in a city then of course its going to be awkward and strange when they go to a farm or somewhere foreign. I know that if I were in their place, it'd be weird for me too.

Born Rich (2003)
interesting but not impressed

Warning: Spoilers
Note: Spoilers are included

Well this was an interesting documentary. Not of the best quality but it's a good effort. It was interesting but I'm not impressed. These are the wealthiest kids in the U.S. and yet they can't speak well. Celebrities are much more well spoken than these kids. I don't know why since the rich kids go to the best schools.

I'm also not impressed with the arrogance that's portrayed by some of those kids like the European royal, who is just a rude snob. He also made some off-hand comment about falling in love & eventually getting divorced. So much for optimism.

I really don't feel sorry for them at all. They've got the best of everything, money and all of that and yet some of them don't have confidence, & can't find anything worthwhile doing. It seems that because they have a lot of money that many of them aren't doing much except partying. Good grief, if I had all that money I'd be into all sorts of interests.

One girl jokes about having a lot of money and what would she do with it, give it to the homeless? I'm like "yes! Why not?" What kind of life is it when there are wealthy people that live like kings and yet ignore the poor and the helpless?!!

I really don't believe the Vanderbuilt kid who says that he lives on $50,000. I mean really does he expect us to believe that after he's lived a wealthy life? I don't think so.

I felt sorry for one heir, who had money and all of that and yet he & his father don't get along. Then again he has all that money to comfort him. It was an interesting look & its showed me that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. By not being one of them, I think that it keeps me an interesting person. It was a depressing documentary because although they were rich they did not know what to do with themselves.

I love it!
2 December 2003
I stayed up late to watch this on the classic movie channel. This movie is so hilarious! I laughed my head off. Even in Hollywood's production code, they got away with so much! If you have the chance to see it and are a Carey Grant fan then see it! I can't believe I haven't seen this before. It's so good. It's witty, funny and smart. I also like that the female lead is a smart woman, that really adds to a romantic comedy. Hilarious stuff.

Hilarious

This movie is so hilarious. I love the smart wit between the characters & the on going laughs. Who knew that Robert Taylor could do comedy? He is great at his role & Norma Shearer is just as good.

The basic plot is Robert Taylor's character is in love with a socialite (Shearer) and she doesn't care much for him. He owes her money, so she hires him to be her secretary and to keep her away from her ex-beau who treats her horribly but she's still in love with him. Taylor's character does just that, he keeps her away no matter how much she wants to be with the wrong guy.

Taylor is great at his role. I liked him in this romantic comedy. I loved this movie. It's not a boring romantic comedy. The only thing that was just weird is that Shearer plays a desperate woman who will do anything to go back to a beau that treats her badly. I wish that she would have stood up for herself and realized that the guy was no good on her own. She needs a man to rescue her from this situation & that's not real life.

Anyway the smart wit & laughs is what makes the movie worth it despite Shearer's desperate character. It would have been great if they had used all the ideas in this movie, including Taylor, but have made Shearer's character a much stronger woman in a different plot but in the romantic genre.

good movie

Warning: Spoilers
Note: Spoilers included, included the spoiler to the ending.

The story is basically about several friends & family that are close and when Hitler comes to power everyone chooses different sides. The story is also centered on lifelong friends who are torn apart when some don't choose to be involved in the Nazi party and are willing to stand up for freedom and what is right. It also shows that there were Germans that opposed Hitler and the Nazis.

I like how there is nothing gory in this movie, and that's handled well. Its so sad how the sons of the professor join the Nazi party, and you slowly see them being brainwashed more and more until they turn on their family. It's sad. Freya & Martin come to like each other and try to escape but their not successful. It's worth watching and it makes you think.
