Arrambam (2013)
)ne of the biggest movie events of the year
'Mela' takes the cake as the best song sequence and it's a riot of colors and revelry as the actors dance merrily for Holy. 'Hare Rama' isn't to be seen in the movie. Arya and Taapsee feature in 'En Fuse Pochu' and few nice effects embellish the song.
Yuvan's work on the BGM doesn't demand your attention as much as it did in Mankatha and Billa. But still, he has added enough muscle to the tension and action in the movie with his score. Om Prakash's work on the camera befits the movie's stature as a slick and glossy commercial action entertainer. The stunt choreographers take the credit for the numerous action set pieces and it is all the way. The climax sequence and the boat chase are racy.
Being a commercial movie, you have to suspend disbelief and not look for too much logic and reasoning. There are a few sudden jumps in the movie's flow and its better not to question them too much, and just enjoy the bond type commercial offering from Ajith.
Kudos to the Arrambam team for managing to live up to the Himalayan hype with an action flick which packs enough punch. Verdict: Let's make this simple ... Movie has not in it to be enjoyed this Diwali !
Kadal (2013)
After Ravan another Flop for Mani
It was a big dis appointment for Mani fans. Could really not trace out what he was trying to say/convey through this film. Its neither an entertainment nor a documentary. However waiting till last minute to see something to happen in film remains as an expectations. But all of a sudden the names coming back informing us the film is no more is yet another disappointment but makes us feel good as we have survived to stay in the cinema hall making sense for the money we paid ( only Air conditioned atmosphere / friends( preferably Girl) can only add value to the money we have paid.
No strong message- too many questions circling you when you come out of the cinema hall.
Arjun is fine - but could not his regular acting.
New cast- Goutam keeps shouting and Lakshmi is OK - need to do home work and take care of her physic.
Could not digest when the pool of talents give a film like this.
In my views its not even worth a star.
Maattrraan (2012)
Expectation were very high for this film. Did they meet the expectation? I would say No. They exceeded it!!!
Story:
Firstly let us see what is the story about. 2 Suriyas were conjoins born to Sachin Khedekar and his wife. Sachin is a founder and the owner of a company which sells kids energy drink which is the best in the market. To know the secret formula of the drink, a competitor sends a Russian spy to the company and with the help of Kajal and Surya, managed to get some info but was killed. Soon after that, due to an accident one of the Surya is killed and thus both were separated. Then Surya comes to know that the Russian lady was not a spy and the energy drink which was selling in the market actually contains dangerous substances. To find out why his father sells the drink, and who are behind this drink, Surya along with Kajal Agarwal flies to Russia and the films tells the rest.
Surya does his role with ease as usual and the comedies between himself as conjoined twins is the highlight of the First half of the film. Kajal Agarwal looks beautiful and helps the film as a Russian translator. Sachin Khedekar as villain scores too.
1.The first half of the film moves slowly but is overshadowed by the 2 Suriya.
2.The second half is where the film gets extremely interesting and moves in jet speed.
The major strength and the backbone of the film is the story and screenplay. KV Anand and Subha had done a great job. Just like his previous film Ko, KV Anand placed huge importance on the story and it pays off handsomely.
This is the first Indian film which had used performance capture technology and it has worked well showing the 2 Suryas together. Songs were average from Harris but the picturization was good especially Nani Koni Song.
Overall the film entertains highly especially in the 2nd half and KV Anand stamps his name as a director delivering quantity commerical entertainer.
Final Verdict: KV Anand and Subha strikes Gold!!!
Billa 2 (2012)
Ajith still has not come out of Mangatha
The film starts with a voice from behind re-visiting an ordinary coastal men's life. Hero as an ordinary coastal man starting to live his life pretty simple with his region people..He gets introduced to a drug and weapon dealers by his coastal head , he agrees to work for them considering the poor livelihood of his family, as predicted he was being cheated by the dealers and whole kinds captured him and his coastal people and made them to Agathigal for money which they gonna get later ! Thereby, heroines enter and fall for Hero pity situation and bad lights he undergo , how Hero learns all the arts from them and transform as an Underworld don who gets control of entire network after the death of Sudhanshu Pandey form a rest of the Story. Ajith (David) when reforms as don shown with his slick and style appearance and dialogs, but failed to justify the character when being Agathi. He looked unselected for the refugee role no offense meant, he still has not come out of Mankatha hangover. Music was good in parts. Madhurai Ponnu and Unakule Mirugam were poorly pictured. Other three was good. BGM had no new compositions, Yuvan just re-used the old version part 1 themes here. Cinematography was Awesome. Red Epic worked to some extent but in some places it looked so contrast and dull Grey which harms some audience.. There were lots of violence scenes present and some sexually explicit content could have been avoided although it rated Adultery film. climax was not convincing and they've missed the point what makes Ajith as David Billa and less was said on it. The film is noway near to entertaining previous film in terms of content and scenes. I did not enjoy the film as i enjoyed Mankatha. Positives :- -Ajith's performance as Transforming a Don(David bill) -Songs -2nd half locations Negatives :- - Ajith as coastal man(David) was miscast -1st half was so dragging - Dialogues given to other non Tamil artists except Ajith were pretty rubbish. -mindless violence scenes and back sound -Adultery scenes in some parts were used extreme -Climax so illogical and not convincing. -Predictable Scenes towards the end. My Rating :- 3.5* for 10* My Verdict :- They should have taken sequel for BILLA. Not a engaging watch , but definitely can't enjoy it more than 30mins. Box office predictions :- Poor reports from my place and there wont be a 2nd time audience here. my advice :- Kids, Female, And Family Folks *must* give a miss for xxx contents !!
3 (2012)
Waste of Time
Really a Mokka movie u never saw....not even a 5 min entertainment in the movie...........Full of love, love and nothing found in the love.......
More than Anirudh's massive hit Why this Kolvaeri DI, Kannazhaga pleases our ears more. The picturisation of the song Kolaveri, which went viral on the internet when released in November last year, doesn't match up to its popularity. Aishwarya's 3 is no exception. The hero suffers from a disease, but no valid explanation is given for that. Hiding Ram's illness from Janani is justified, but one wonders why Senthil didn't approach Ram's father who would've arranged for his treatment. Post-interval, the movie never gets a chance to rise. Dhanush and Shruti have performed well, both in romantic and emotional scenes. But their efforts have gone futile as audiences refuse to tolerate the same drama that they have already seen umpteen times. Shruti looks beautiful. Dhanush was not playing a mentally disturbed person for the first time in 3, and his acting has matured a lot.
