Just happy that I ignored the reviews...
7 November 2019
It is a shame to read all these 1 and 2 star reviews for a perfectly entertaining movie. What are these people thinking? Are they personally offended that the film did not play out they thought it would? Did they think at all? Moviegoers and fans of the franchise, who cannot accept that this is not just adding to the time line of the previous films but just gets a new (much better) approach at a sequel, should become writers or filmmakers instead of criticising a well made action film.

It was perfectly well communicated before the movie went to the cinemas that this one would directly follow up on part 2 and have nothing to do with the other sequels. Why can people not accept that premise and enjoy the movie for what it is: a very well made action flick with good old Arnie. Man, I enjoyed it.,

Of course is not as good as T2, it could not be. T2 was a perfect 10, in my opinion. It was one of only very very few films I would rate a 10 (along with Matrix, The Dark Knight, Fight Club, Mission Impossible 4...). Still it has a compelling story line, is consistent in its own logic (if you manage to ignore all the Terminator movies that came after T2), is well acted, well directed and has non-stop action that keeps you at the edge of your seat for most of the film.

So, I strongly encourage you to watch it. We probably won't be having many more such action films with Arnie, after all.

I believe an 8 out of 10 is a fair rating for this.

Very original but lacking something
20 February 2019
The idea - great. Not often we get to see something that original and new. But the movie then somehow gets off track, as if they went with a first draft for the script, or something. At the beginning I was fascinated. But the story seems to be not fully matured and thought through. Of course you cannot expect a ghost movie to have stringent logic, but in itself it should be somehow plausible. And I was missing something there. Performances of the two lead actors were great. Bella Thorne alone is worth watching the movie. One star extra for those lips... 😍

Worst action movie ever
20 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When I noticed the cast I was sure this could not go wrong. I was mistaken. Morgan Freeman, really? He was the biggest disappointment, not because of his acting - this was fine - but because of his choice to make this movie.

Other reviewers have summarized already all of the plot holes and pathetic nationalism in this film. So, I only want to point out one more thing:

How can a serious movie, obviously with the intention to support patriotism, show a POTUS who is treating his own people with such contempt that he willingly risks the lives of millions just to save a politician and a high ranking military member some pain and suffering?

But the worst of this all is the fact that this president was afterward almost treated like a hero and example for a strong nation. Did nobody realize what he did before? This president should have been charged with treason and breach of secrecy. He voluntarily delivered information to the enemy that was really concerning the national security. Snowdon was a harmless kid against this president.

So, what's this movie supposed to teach? That a flag and an individual are "the nation" to protect, and not its people? That a president is so far above the law that he can and should protect his fellow politicians over his people?

This is not ridiculous as many commentators felt. It is in fact TRACIC because I am afraid that many viewers will exactly take this message from the film.

Sandler's best
12 November 2011
I don't understand the poor rating of this movie at all. It is absolutely not like many other (admittedly dull) Sandler movies but has a real message below the surface. And the actors all really give a great performance.

There is of course a lot of slapstick action and excessive goofiness, but more important is how the movie makes use of these elements to show how absurd the hate between Palestinians and Israelis really is.

I think the point is that you can only really get this movie if you have been to Israel a couple of times, due to the many innuendos to Israeli life. It may also help to get more of the comedy if you know a little Hebrew or Yiddish. But then it's a real treat.

Truth is, that I never laughed my ass off like this watching any other movie.

And the music by one of my favorite Israeli bands, Hadag Nahash, puts the dot on the "i" for me in this movie and wins the 10th out of 10 points for my vote.
