Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Not Trek: The Woke Frontier
This show is an absolute dumpster fire. While the first two seasons were full of bad writing, terrible acting, and idiotic plot lines, they were somewhat watchable. Season 3 & 4 , on the other hand, have been made up of one utterly disastrous episode after another. Culminating in a season finale that is nothing but a political endorsement of one Stacey Abrams. From the non-stop woke ideology, to every character crying in EVERY episode....this is an abomination made for the people that have purple hair, pronouns in their profiles and get offended by pancake syrup.
Family Guy (1999)
Not what it used to be
I used to love Family Guy. I loved the fact that Seth MacFarlane pulled no punches. No one, and no topic, was off limits. Seth wasn't afraid to make fun of every religion, every ethnicity, every stereotype, ever political view and every social topic. But....that is no longer the case. Seth is now a cancel culture loving coward afraid to hurt anyone's little feelings or say something that might cause the Twitter mobs to get outraged. Today's Family Guy is watered down , unfunny shell of what it used to be.
Geostorm (2017)
AOC's second favorite movie.....
Her favorite is, of course, The Day After Tomorrow. Another monumentally stupid "climate change is gonna kill us all" shlockfest. At least that one was made by the usually entertaining Roland Emmerich. But, here comes Geostorm, the first, and thankfully ONLY film directed by Emmerich's less talented writing partner in disaster, Dean Devlin (the man responsible for every line of cringe inducing dialogue in every Emmerich disaster film, from Independence Day to 2012). In Geostorm, instead of the 12 years in which climate change is gonna kill us all (according to AOC & Greta "Blah Blah Bah How Dare you" Thunberg"), it happens in only 2. To save the planet, scientists built an orbital weather control system. But, wait...a corrupt right wing military general wants to use the system to control the planet, by creating weather disasters that kill Democrats. The "special" effects are nothing of the sort, unless you're a fan late 90's SyFy films. I just have to give one response to Dean Devlin for making this film.....Blah blah blah!!! How dare you!!!!
Creepshow: Skeletons in the Closet/Familiar (2021)
Homages galore
While the rest of season 3 was garbage, Skeletons in the Closet was surprisingly good. Numerous nods to horror classics (and a few other films) of the past. The murders were the highlight. We have one character killed by a metallic sphere from the film "Phantasm", another by a James Bond prop, yet another was a direct homage to Psycho, and then, of course, the final "battle" between the re-animated skeletons, a direct homage to the late., great Ray Harryhausen. Loved every minute of it.
Creepshow (2019)
From ok.....to unwatchable
Season 1 was quite enjoyable. It FELT like Creepshow. Old school campy horror. Season 2 was hit or miss, mostly miss. Season 3 is unwatchable trash. It seems they decided to forgo any semblance of good storytelling, and focus on making political statements. Combine the bad writing with abysmal "acting" and you end up with a complete dumpster fire. In fact, this was so bad, i ended up cancelling my Shudder subscription. I'm not paying $6 a month to have someone's political views shoved down my throat.
The Center Seat: 55 Years of Star Trek (2021)
A Star Trek recap for people who hate Star Trek
Seriously, what even is this. I struggled to make it through all 10 episodes (subscribing to History Vault just for this series). What I was presented was 10+ hours of actors, writers and "experts" whining and moaning about everything they DIDN'T like. Everyone sounds bitter & ungrateful to the franchise that made them famous. From the insufferable, sanctimonious Wil Wheaton to the extremely bitter Nana Visitor who would be a complete nobody if not for DS9. This program was clearly made for the Twitter mobs who seek to find fault and offense in everything. I wouldn't be surprised if this was fully sanctioned by CBS as a way to crap on classic Trek so they can push their new agenda driven tripe, like Discovery.
Besides all that, the editing is a disaster, frequently & abruptly shifting from subject to subject. This series is a disaster.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
The Matrix: Dark Fate
Why does this film exist? To destroy a franchise, of course. Just like the last Terminator film.
The film tries to out meta itself, and fails miserably. It's pretty ironic when a film that is an unnecessary reboot tells its audience unnecessary reboots are a bad idea. "Resurrections" explains that the events of the previous films are series of video games created by Thomas Anderson, who doesn't remember he is Neo, or that those events actually happened. Oh, and Trinity is alive too, but now she's Tiffany. There's an angry female hacker with a short blue, I'm offended by everything, haircut, who is central to the plot, because of course there is. And the woke critics are gushing over her, as if she's the greatest Matrix character of all time. The story itself is basically Sleeping Beauty. The effects are laughably bad. There's horrible editing, countless production mistakes, and mediocre fight scenes. This is one massive fail.
Encounter (2021)
Don't waste your time.
Blatantly misleading marketing from Amazon. This is NOT a science fiction film. It's an incredibly boring film about a man suffering from PTSD who imagines aliens are controlling humanity. And who does he see as the bad guys......cops & white people, of course. Avoid this woke trash non-scifi film at all costs.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Loss (1990)
Troi at her most annoying.
Whaaaa! I no longer have an ability nobody else on the ship has. Now I'm no longer better than them. That's all this episode is. Troi whining for an hour because she can't sense anyone's private thoughts and feelings. And the moment she regains her ability, she's all cheery and patting herself in the back. And expect everyone to just ignore that fact that he acted like a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum.
American Horror Story: Winter Kills (2021)
American Woke Story
I've enjoyed most seasons of AHS, except Cult (but not for the reason you think). But, after the abysmal woke agenda filled American Horror Stories summer series, I had very low expectations for this season. I was pleasantly surprised by the first 5 episodes. They were creepy in all the right ways. Then we come to this.......not only is Winter Kills the worst episode of the "Red Tide", it may very well be the worst episode in the entire run of AHS. The plot fell apart, and they were more concerned with pushing the woke narrative (just like with the aforementioned summer series), than giving the season a proper ending.
La Brea (2021)
The biggest new show of the season!!!
That statement was in one of the promos I saw while watching WWE on USA tonight. NBC is really trying to hype this turd. The rest of the promo included statements such as "Exhilarating" and "Exciting". Not quite the words I would use to describe this. How about "cringe worthy", "d-grade" and "unwatchable". As many others have pointed out, the CGI is 25 years out of date, the acting is abysmal and the dialogue sounds like it was written by children. There isn't a shred of originality, it's full of cliches (such as the current "cops are bad" trope), and it's littered with token characters that exist solely for NBC to say "see, we're inclusive".
Twisted Fiction (2021)
More woke trash from Apple
If you've seen Apple's horrible woke re-imagining of The Twilight Zone, you know what you're getting here. Identity politics, race baiting, "white man bad" rhetoric. I should have known better than to waste my time. I've watched the first two garbage episodes, I won't be watching any more.
Good Samaritan (2020)
Bottom of the barrel trash
Where do I start? I can't fathom how anyone could make a film this monumentally terrible. The acting is D-grade at best. The characters are cardboard caricatures. The dialogue is mind numbingly bad.
We barely need to get 10 minutes in to encounter the stupidity. A group of strangers witness the beating death of man in a park. Nobody does anything to help. One guy whips out his phone and records the video. Our heroine (very obviously the only one that lives) decides to act, and grabs the guy's cell phone to call 911. In the very next scene we meet the dumbest police detective on the planet. He is showing our heroine a police sketch, asking if its the attacker. I guess Detective Dumb Dumb completely forgot that the entire incident was recorded on video, and he has said video, that clearly shows the attacker's face, in his possession. I mean, holy crap. And that's just in the first 10 minutes of the film. It gets a whole lot dumber. Including one of the most idiotic twist endings ever filmed.
This is, at best, a piss poor rip off of Final Destination mixed with I Know What Did Last Summer, with no tension, incredibly lame jump scares, shoddy editing, and...no horror whatsoever.
Away (2020)
The future is now........
Literally. This absolute borefest is set in the year 2070. A 2070 that looks EXACTLY like 2019 (the year filming took place). Sure, there's a fully functional moon base, and cell phones appear to have great reception from the moon and halfway to Mars, but....everything else is contemporary. We see characters using current model (as of 2019) iPhones, iPads, tv's and laptops. Even Instagram gets a nod. People are driving around in, what in the timeline of the series, would be 50+ year old gas guzzling SUVs & dirt bikes. Even the dialogue is contemporary, as one teenage character mentions his father being killed by an IED in Iraq (that same character drives what would be a nearly 100 year old Ford pick-up). Egads.
Other than that, this a soap opera with a Mars mission as a backdrop. A Mars mission that Nasa would never send. You have a group of people that practically hate each other, on a cramped ship for 3 years. I struggled to get though this thing, as every episode feels like it's 3 hours long.
