Honey Glaze (2003 Video)
As B as a B movie gets!
18 June 2004
Admit it, you love B movies, so do yourself a favor and check this out. This is a completely silly no-budget movie. Take Ed Wood, mash him together with John Waters, remove any hint of cash flow, and you will have director Michael Legge. A scene didn't go by where I wasn't at least chuckling, if not laughing outright. It's one of those movies that rewards a second viewing, because there are so many gags and subtle humor that might be missed the first time. All of the actors are very good. I would like to know how the casting person found so many non-professional actors that can do comedy. And let's not forget the action. The final showdown between Honey Glaze and the evil Nurse would impress Jacki Chan. Just prepare yourself for something off the wall, and you'll love it!

One of the worst films I've ever seen
23 December 2003
I recall sitting in the theatre with my friend, and after about half an hour turning to him and asking, "Does this movie suck?". As said it, I could see the grim realization hit him that indeed, it did suck. That characters were flat, the over-embellished production design was such that I was painfully aware this was filmed entirely in a studio. Coppola's feeble attempts at being artsy come off looking like Norman Rockwell trying to paint abstract expressionism.

Moby Dick (1956)
Too bad
23 December 2003
Gregory Peck pretty much murders a great directing effort by Huston. It seems like Peck's approach to the character of Ahab was to act as wooden as Lincoln's portrait on the five dollar bill. In fact, he would have made a great ship's figure head. Just about every other element of the film is strong. It's too bad. Peck was a great actor, but this role should have been played by someone else.

The Pogues are in it!!!
19 December 2003
This is not a good movie. It seems like Cox is trying to duplicate the flavor of RepoMan. It's really just a collection of disjointed skits that are funny at times, but don't amount to anything. The only things that make this worth seeing are the Pogues. Yes, the entire band with Shane in all his toothless glory! It also features Courtney Love before she made it big and turned into a sleazy, hipocritical glamour queen. Of course, Dick Rude is entertaining and Strummer doesn't do too badly. If you like any of the above people, then you'll get something out of this movie. If you have no idea who these people are (with exception of Courtney), don't bother.
