Fascinating Tour of a Slice of American Culture
5 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It is amazing how the comics reinvented themselves as the American culture changed. There were many major changes required to adjust to the wants of the consumers.

The movies that are so popular today globally have their roots in these stories that captivated children for generations.

Adults enjoy these stories all around the globe. So that tells me that they tap into a deep something inside of humans. I guess that many of us long to become a hero in the our little corner of the universe. That is not often offered externally so we identify with is through the action movies based on super heroes.

There are dozens of movies made each year. But it is the super hero ones that both excel at the box office and are watched repeatedly long after they were released.

This documentary provides insights into why and how this kind of story telling evolved. A few key people were pivotal at key intervals on this complex time-line. What we enjoy today was shaped in part by their contributions.

I have past my 60th birthday a while ago. And the longer I live the more I appreciate the value of historic context of all things. That is why I like great documentaries like this one. Plus within any documentary a few key individuals are revealed as having been essential. So current conditions have an historic context that was caused by certain persons who were in the right place at the right time. Maybe they felt like a hero or celebrity at the time or maybe that did not become evident until after their passing.
