Watch this only if you appreciate great acting
1 September 2022
This movie is exactly my kind of movie. Fantastic acting, superb writing, honest and real human pain and relationships portrayed on screen. Heartbreaking in the best way. Jerrod Carmichael and Christopher Abbott are exceptional. Cannot recommend this movie enough. I basically just wanted to share how much I enjoyed this movie, but also didn't realize imdb changed the character parameters for reviews, haha. What else...hmmm, it's funny how so many amazing movies go unappreciated sometimes, hopefully this isn't one of those. It's not everyday you come across a movie that is so raw and I firmly believe that always has everything to do with the actors involved. And they knocked this one out of the park.

Exactly my kind of show.

I love this show! The actors are absolutely amazing, especially Bridget Everett and Jeff Hiller. Their portrayals are so real, funny and down to earth. Great show, I would recommend anyone to watch...although I'm sure not everyone will connect with it or appreciate its understated charm.

This show was fantastic! The entire cast was great and the three main characters have great chemistry together and are really funny! I hope they make another season because I will definitely watch.

Meh.

Feels like a less good rip off of "On Becoming a God in Central Florida" with Kirsten Dunst which is amazing and she is amazing in. This show on the other hand makes it hard to like Rose Byrne's character, which makes it hard to really invest in the show overall. I didn't hate it though and finished the season- my fave character is the surfer bro Tyler. It's definitely watchable, but just lacks something.

Decent and watchable

Warning: Spoilers
The acting and writing are def kinda cheesy, like thrillers/suspense tend to be to me. But it definitely kept my attention and I enjoyed it over all. The main plot hole that stuck out to me though is how could the teenage girl Allison discover the Metadata and not the police?? Lol.

Not good, unfortunately

Why wasn't this straight to Lifetime? The acting, script, and cinematography are all bad.

So bad. Unfortunate because I love Amy Adams, but the script was just...so bad.

Not worth it
9 May 2020
I watched it because I liked the original, but it's definitely not worth watching. I didn't even want to finish it, but I did since it was paid for to rent. Why did this have to be two hours?? Why??? Terrible acting, terrible script, no comedy like the original and it just dragsss.

Don't waste your time

I love indie films. I love films that others probably think are "boring" and "pointless". I love films that are heavy on dialogue and human relationships. This film checks those boxes, but where it lacks is in the acting and believability of the relationships and conversations. I mean I love Jason Schwartzman and Chloe Sevigny, that's why I watched the movie. But they couldn't even save this script, unfortunately. What I'm trying to say is that this movie was incredibly boring and trite.

Cute movie.
29 December 2019
I thought this was a really cute movie and let me just say I am not at all bothered that it was changed somewhat. People on here complaining that it's been made "politically correct"...maybe if they stopped for a second and listened to what they are saying they might realize how absurd they sound- "how dare they take out offensive and culturally insensitive aspects?!" Absolutely ridiculous. I personally thought the film was well done and worth a watch.

Super cringey

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I literally don't understand how someone could enjoy something so poorly acted with such cliché dialogue. Don't waste your time unless you enjoy Lifetime/Hallmark movies, in which case this is right up your alley.

Adam Pally kills it
4 May 2018
I randomly saw an ad for this movie on Instagram and liking Adam Pally (but not actually knowing his name) definitely wanted to check it out. He of course was hilarious as the down to earth and, to me, likeable Billy. Much of the supporting cast I was previously unfamiliar with, but thoroughly enjoyed. Everyone's performance definitely added to this quirky comedic take on a murder mystery. I sincerely recommend checking out this film.
