Samaritan (2022)
Can't believe the low rating on here. BOO!
Jeez, people are so hard to please these days. This movie was solid! Sly made a great film. I was completely invested in the story from the very first line of the film. Stallone really brought the character to life. I thought his character was very believable. From start to finish. He doesn't get enough credit. I thought it had so much of what makes a film enjoyable. I even found myself crushing on his character a few times. I feel like anyone who figured out the twist early on wasn't because the film wasn't done properly but because It was. And the way he and Javon Watson worked off of each other was great to watch. Funny moments. Endearing moments. Kid was amazing! So adorable. Great acting. Looking forward to watching him in something else one day. Thanks Mr Stallone. I enjoyed my Sunday morning in bed.today and again after dinner! Like I said, I really liked it.
Swallow (2019)
This story broke my heart and stung my eyes!
Tv was on and I happened to walk in the room after the film had just started. I adore the lead actress (she always kills it in her roles, girl on a train is a perfect example) and I found myself sitting down and watching it the whole way through because I couldn't believe what I was watching. Like others have said before, I found myself wanting this poor girl to get some real help, not what she was getting. My eyes would water up and I was even talking to the tv at her, trying to offer my own compassion for her. The ending wasn't all tied up in a happy little bow in some fairytale fashion. It was right for the story- in my opinion anyways. Gave me tremendous empathy for anyone suffering from what she was and why she most likely was. I was sad watching her story but I'm not sorry I watched it at all.
Galveston (2018)
Superb Acting from both leads in a story that will break your heart.
I'm a huge Ben Foster fan so I had to give this a watch and his acting never disappoints. Elle Fanning showed her evolving talent in this one for sure. It was definitely hard to watch at some parts but only because you forget this is a film and you almost feel like you're watching someone's real life story. With that said, real life doesn't usually provide closure or meaning, we often don't find redemption or have a chance to enact revenge on the "bad guy" (this movie is filled with characters society would label as bad anyway) and for sure doesn't end with a happy ending. This story could easily be the life or lives of someone you happened to read about in the newspapers one day and thought, "WOW, how does someone's life end up like this?" This is one such backstory, I'm sure. It was cruel and also sweet. Cute but also sad. Most of all, it was very REAL which is why I think it will leave its imprint on the heart!
