The Transporter Refueled (2015)
Terrible Movie Formulaic and predictable
Redeeming features, nice Cars, nice Girls
The acting was woeful, if this was supposed to be a showcase for new talent? It failed miserably Ed Skrein was simply not believable as Frank Martin, he may well have talent but if failed to find a way to escape the terrible script.
The plot (what there was of it) was so predictable that I could have written the next scene before it showed up on the screen.
The truth is, this movie could have been edited out of the out takes and what was on the cutting room floor from the previous Transporter Movies and it would probably have been an improvement.
The Plot consisted of a few Pretty Girls exploited by Mafia type Russian bad guy, Frank takes a job and gets wrapped into a revenge plot by some of the Girls on the old Boss.
Stick it in a bag shake it and print it.
If you are thinking of going to the cinema to watch this, do not waste the money.
It gets 1 star because someone somewhere made a living on it.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
Worth Watching Chris Pine does a good Job
I watched this with some misgivings in that for me Jack Ryan will always be Harrison Ford. That said Chris Pine brings a new dimension to the role with his boyish charm and warm smile. Keira Knightley gives an adequate performance but does not have the same spark with Ryan as Anne Archer The plot is fast paced and drives the movie along at a fair old lick. Kevin Costner gives a good performance making his character believable. Overall I enjoyed it, if you take it for what it is and not compare to the Harrison Ford Movies of the same Character it stands up well and a good action/spy movie.
Things I missed: No reference to Admiral Greer who in (future) movies was supposed to be the main reason Ryan joined the CIA.
My rating of 7 is due to the fact I enjoyed it, and hope you do too.
The Infidel (2010)
Enjoyable simply as a Comedy, yet provoked some serious thoughts for us all
I watched this on BBC I player last evening (Jan 2012) as it had been shown on the BBC. Enjoyed it immensely, although some of the lesser characters seemed to be quite stereotypical. The let down for me was the very limited exploration of the Jewish community and how they would accept (or otherwise) a person with this background. That said a polished performance from Matt Lucas. Omid Djaili gives real credence to the main character and is very believable, very much the real star of the Movie. David Badiel (Author) has done a great job on the script and makes the dialogue more than believable. I recommend this as viewing for all despite some of the flowery language (very much in context) I would suggest some of the Dialogue (racist) is occasionally used for dramatic/comedy effect rather than as necessary to the plot, although it is never over the top, and would be hard pressed to be taken as seriously offensive by anyone except the most extreme.
Enjoyable and thought provoking worth the watch.
