No idea about the bad reviews. I think many expected this to be like independence day but it's not. It's a slow burn Scifi show with some gripping episodes and a lot of mystery.

Some spoilers.

We don't see the aliens we think are invading, but we see alien creatures on earth which are so intriguing. We follow a number of people in the UK, US, Irán And Japan with some of them holding a mysterious link to the invasion. The show follows them as they deal with how they're linked to the invasion, as well as their own character development. There are some stand out episodes including an episode set in a house in the wilderness where a family are trapped while being stalked by one of the creatures and it had me on the edge of my seat. Stick with the show, it's coming back for a second season and I can't wait.

My only complaint is Sam Neill is only in one episode, and with his departure is the departure of the interesting folk in the town his is from, but by episode 3 I'd forgotten about him bevause the rest of the show has another mystery, horror and drama.

I wanted to wait until I'd seen a chunk of episodes before reviewing because I know new shows need to evolve.

Anyway, their are negatives and positives which I'll list, and I will he sticking with the show.

The show doesn't have Scott Bakula and although he is mentioned, this is a sequel series taking place in the present. There are a few call backs, including Ernie Hudson playing Magic Williams, a character from the original show, and Janis who is the daughter os Al from the original show.

Like most contemporary shows, it has to include an overarching storyline and mythology. This is something I didn't really like initially because the reason I loved the original was the complete standalone nature of the episodes which were often memorable. In this series we have multiple mysteries taking place outside of the 'leap' story so less time is taken in the past meaning those characters didn't have the screen time to make me care as much as may have if they'd had the whole episode like in the original.

However, as time went on, the larger storyline is getting more interesting and it seems the show is starting to spend more time on the story set in the past.

Season 1 has 18 episodes and it's been renewed for season 2 so I hope the show continues to listen to fans and let the show evolve. As long as the standalone episodes are good enough, many of us don't need a complex secondary story and I worry by season 2 if they don't wrap up the overarching story then it'll get pretty convoluted.

I love rewatching the old series, but the new show could only be rewatched in order to follow the serialised plot.

But I'll stick with it, I'm starting to like the characters and hope season 1 has a conclusion and eventually, I hope they tie up Sam Becketts storyline. It they're going down the serialised route, it seems odd to ignore the fact that another leaper is out there in some pergatory leaping loop he can't get out of.

Ignore the bad reviews. I found this show on accident, watched one episode and ended up binging all six episodes of season 1.

The show asks a lot of questions about how we treat the planet and each other.

The premise is in the future, humanity has almost destroyed the planet; we've taken many of its resources and treated other humans like garbage. So we send a group of humans to the moon and powerful AI which creates a livable part of the moon. The AI learna from the humans and adapts the surroundings to create a utopia which sustains us. Now its time for these humans to return to earth to pass on what has been learned. Its hear we join the story, and a group of humans who refuse to let the moon inhabitants return. The show has an interesting approach to how we should live and I loved it. Its full of suspense, a murder mystery, aliens and asks how we should live in harmony will without hurting each other. Please don't listen to negative reviews, try the show yourself and make your own mind up.

Can't wait for season 2.

This show is funny, action filled drama. Season 1 was the origin story then season 2 was mostly set in the future and season 3 even further in the future. The acting was good, the action good, I fell in love with Wolf, but missed the feel of season 1. It went from being a show like Chuck to a show like terminator.
