Resident Evil (2022)
Not as bad as reviews here make it to be
First of all, imdb needs better moderation of the overall reviews since some of them here are nothing more than sexist, racist and misogynistic garbage. And yes, I do inderstand that people may be dissapointed with the artistic liberties taken from the source material. I found it quite refreshing and I liked the story. The characters are not fully fleshed out and yes, teenagers are annoying but that is not a valid critic. The dialogue could have been better at times but it is decent and entertaining enough. I think the most honest grade this show deserves is a 6 and everything below that is just bunch of little boys or sadly, grown men, complaining about black, asian and women characters.
La Fiesta Silenciosa (2019)
Smartly written thriller
This movies is a litmus test for misogyny and victim-blaming. If you hated it because you hated and blamed the main protagonist you need help. Professional help. It is an artsy movie with some of the scenes lasting unnecessarily long but the format of the movie supports these kind of scenes without making it pretentious. I really liked the ambiguous ending and I think this movie draws on the larger themes of assault, patriarchy, and victim blaming. Don't trust the reviews with bad ratings since most of them draw upon their own internalised misogyny.
Nymphomaniac: Vol. II (2013)
Exploration of uncommon female sexuality
I have been stunned by the numerous bad reviews of this movie mostly because most of the bad reviews rely on the holier-then-thou attitude and blatant misogyny. This movie offers an insight in an deviant female sexuality and has some very good points about society's regulation of sexuality and moral condemnation of unrestrained sexuality, especially a female one. I would highly recommend this movie for all open minded people who have a certain degree of understanding of gender issues. I can see how this movie has struck a moral cord in some people, by offending them with graphic displays of intercourse and openly proclaimed nymphomania of the main protagonist, but by condemning this movie they are missing the point:they are precisely acting upon the same higher moral ground this movie is trying to problematize.
