Errrrr
31 March 2024
Hm. It's a tricky one, is this. How do I be polite yet be honest about this film. Firstly, what ever happened to the jeep? Secondly, I've seen turds dry up quicker under a solar lamp. Thirdly, how did they get the make up on the lion? Then between scenes it must have had a wash, for now it's 'sans' blood, so there must be water nearby to quench their thirst? I mean what the hell is going on? It's like The Grey made into a PG version, made suitable for children who don't have a clue what the hell is going on, but are happy to be entertained by the charming clown you're mother's petrified of. It's not a beast of a film, it's watchable just to see how bad it can get. And why the buggery didn't they use the jeep?

Watch it
17 January 2024
One of the most beautiful and compassionate moments I have ever watched in TV. Very moving and expertly executed by a team capable of handling such a subject in the right way.

You just need to watch it. Suspend your beliefs and judgement, and watch a moving, passionate episode that will challenge you in all the right ways.

WTF?
22 November 2023
Most of the show was just a total load of pap. The challenges weren't too bad, but when no challenge it was just rubbish. The majority of contestants were terrible and in Ep 1 in particular, the amount of idiots who could not choose a shape was abysmally high. Just choose a shape for heavens sake! I was extremely disappointed with the show overall and more time should have been invested in the challenges as opposed to watching some questionable individuals talk nonsense and get wound up or anxious about insignificant things that allegedly make drama. The dramas were molehills not mountains. If there'd been a challenge where they could make mountains out of said molehills, I fear everyone would have been eliminated, as most can't even make a choice. Utter Rubbish.

Absolute Cracker
9 September 2023
Absolute cracker of a film! Forget that it's animated, it is a film and first rate at that. The animation is out of this world, the music amazing, the story top notch and script superb. It's not often you get everything just right, but this surpasses getting it right; it's an amazing film. Even the Brit-Punk Spiderman, they got it spot on. The humour is also good and pitched at the right level, even having an apt joke about the villain talking about holes. The characters were well thought out, the dialogue was appropriate and well written. In fact, my son & I cannot criticise any of it. It's on par with the Christopher Nolan Batman films. If they could apply this level to something like DC's Injustice it would be brill. I am so glad I watched it and it's part of a 3 piece story, not just a sequel because it will make money. The story is coherent and sound and the level of research that has gone into getting it right has worked. I cannot praise it enough.

Criminal Minds: The Uncanny Valley (2010)

True horror is this creepy
16 February 2023
True horror is this creepy, as it doesn't necessarily involve obvious stabs and blood but seeing and exploring the perpetrator's means and motives. This episode is similar in style to the modern film, 'Get Out!' and the classic 'Seconds,' which starred the late Rock Hudson. Observing the drive and aim of a criminal mind is truly more disturbing than watching obvious slasher type movies.

This episode is pretty unique, bizarre yet oddly sad all at the same time. Many will find it unsettling, but when you look at what drives the criminal you will understand why they do it. To up the ante, not explaining the route cause of a criminal's activity can add to the thriller aspect. However, this episode of Criminal Minds sits alongside films Get Out! - Midsommar - Seconds - the original Whicker Man, and similar films. It's the absence of obvious horror trickery that makes good horror, for true horror is more of a thriller.

Superior, World Class comedy
6 February 2023
The quality of the writing, the cerebral content and acting is simply the best. For me it even beats Monty Python. I would have loved more episodes. Words cannot express how great this series is. Don't take my word for it, watch it. Better than Mr Show yet similar. I love W/Bob&David. I wish I'd been a writer on the show.

I'm a fan of Bob Odenkirk and his work on Mr Show, but if you were to take the best of that series and mix it with Larry David like comedy, this would be the offspring. Inspired by Pythonesque humour with intense rewrites ( no doubt there ) to perfect the medium must have agonising and painstakingly arduous, yet yielded such a fantastic comedy series. Respect is duly given.
